ok i got a 01 white z06 like last week, it has 27000 miles-- i found out that at 6000 miles it went into the dealership and had the engine removed-- due to the oil problem-- ok now this is the question-- i heard that they replace the motors with the 405 hp ls6 motor.......
and on top of that --the fender badges say---- 405hp--- instead of just z06...
how do i know if i have the new motor? is there casting numbers that are different? that i can look at..?

Ive never heard that, I heard that for the oil consumption problem they just had the pistons re-ringed. It could be possible that the old owner just stuck 405 badges on it.

I have heard of Gm dealers just re-ringing the pistons also. Although there has to be a way of finding out exactly what is in there due to the casting numbers. Try going to corvetteforum or z06vette and see what they say.

white frc--- i would fall over right now.... then after i get up -- i would haul *** over to the dealership and make it right--according to the vin-- its a z06 ... on the gm VIS--dealer web page...
ok i know its not a white frc-- i work at a caddy dealership in south fla(mr.goodwrench) but ---- the dealer- that did the work is a couple hundred miles away... well-- i will pull the valve covers off----when i get a chance---
i just heard rumors... so i was wonding if they could be true.... -- and yeah-- one question--
if i had the 385 hp engine--- what are the 1/4 times likes
if i had the 405----- whats the numbers on that..1/4

You really need to go to corvette forum. All GM did to the 01 Z06's that had oil consumption problems were re-ring them. The previous owner just added those badges. The 20hp difference isn't going to make much of a time difference at the track. Maybe .1. The bigger difference is going to be your driving abilities. A safe 1/4 guess with your car should be around 12-12.6.

Eww, white Z06 with 405 hp badges.
Prior owner mighta been badged as a poser...
Better to take a White Z06 for the rarity it already was than to been seen at an autoshow with a purposeful misbadge.
