If your looking for a car to be comparable to the cobra I would say go with the c6 and drop the l92/l76 head/intake add a cam and your just over 2 grand with a mid to high 400hp car.

Get the C6 instead of the Z06.

The parts cost more but if you plan on adding cubic inches you already have the LS2 block to work with.

Plus you can make the car talk to you. Talking cars are cool.
who gives a **** how they run stock? Both are simple to modify and make much quicker. Go with which one you can afford and which one you like the appearance of better. Take a few test drives.
damn right, so personally i would go with the C6 simply because i think the non pop up headlights look 800x better, just go with what looks better to you...

I say forget about both of them and spend 45-50 grand on a 2000 Viper. It'll dyno 410 rwhp and 465 rwt bone stock and give your 450 rwhp Cobra a solid run for it's money, due to weighing 3380-3430 pounds( depending if rt10 or GTS) vrs your cobras 3700-3800 pounds.

The 100% bone stock record for a gen 2 viper is 11.6 at 121 mph ( and a few have hit 122 mph bone stock)

So not only will you be equal on performance, you'll also have a very rare car that many consider one of the most beautiful american cars ever made.

As well 5 years from now the car will still be worth nearly what you paid for it ( with a good chance of going up in value in the next 7-10 years...

The C5Z06 or C6 will be worth much less than you pay for it now in 5 years time ( especially the c6) Biggest mistake i ever made was buying an 04 c5 off the show room floor in early 2004 for 51 grand...two years later I had a hard time selling it for 34 grand. But i guarantee i could sell my viper for what or more than i paid for it 7 months ago.

Honestly if a viper just isnt what you want then id pick a c5Z06 any day of the week over a C6..

But when you pull up to a gas station in your 04 z06 or 07 c6 and see crowds go right past your car to look at a 1996 GTS....You'll wish you would have listened to me...

Atleaste thats how i felt when people at the track didnt even notice my brand new 2004 C5 with heads and cam due to a 1997 and 1996 bone stock viper that rolled up.

just my honest opinion...For a DD..C5z06 all the way..but if you want a garage queen like you said..1996-2002 Viper

If it were me, I'd go with the C5Z06. Mainly because its going to be cheaper, and you won't take this hit like you will getting the new car.

Besides that, I like the looks of the C5s better (of course I'm a little bias).

One advantage that the C6 would have, would be the targa top...which would be nice at times.
