Default Installed Z06 shocks on my C6 (pics)

What a job this was! Thanks heavens for my $1.49 Sears tool (that I made). You have to compress the shocks to install and remove. Without being compressed they won't come out. With them compressed you still have to work them out.

I attached a pic of my factory shocks verses the Z06. Much larger diameter and much stiffer.

My hope is they will help eliminate wheel hop.

I didn't think about zip ties. But this wire worked pretty well. I suppose $1.49 was being a little extravagant too. LOL!

So, what do you think? Any noticeable differences?

Haven't had it to the track yet to test for wheel hop. Not sure the street is the best test. Ride quality is good. Maybe slightly stiff ride but very acceptable.

I have the Z51 rear bar mounted in polyurethane bushings. The poly bushings hold the bar better than the factory rubber which gives it somewhat more stiffness by not allowing it to move or squirm as much in the bushings.

Love to hear track times too.
I don't have anymore suspension plans at the present time. I do plan to go to the track this Friday. Might have more suspension plans after I see how it launches.

Larry, you should find it better. I get alot of wheel hop on my C6's (even the Z51), but very little on the C6 Z. I guess you will find out soon.

I can't imagine needing any shocks stiffer than these Z06 shocks. The double adjustable might be better but hopefully these will get the job done. Some say the Bilsteins eliminate wheel hop and they are not adjustable. And I rather doubt any stiffer than these Z06s.

And I bought both from Fred Beans for $105.41 delivered.

I upgraded my 01 A4 with Z06 sway bars, 04 Z06 polished alum. wheels and F1 Supercar tires. both made the car handle 100 times better. Now I have 04 Z06 shocks, ready to install in my garage and hope it helps more with handling as well has traction/wheel hop. Wanted to get 06 Z06 shocks, but got great deal on new 04 Shocks.
Thanks for the write up...
