Default from TSP to ARH......

well i have done more work on my car than i would have liked to latley, but i had a problem with my TSP (texas speed and performance) headers i got a few months back.
the drivers side header was hitting the bellhousing. bad.
so i called TSP. after a few weeks of emails. i got a replacment.
but that one didnt fit either.
so it was kooks (3 weeks out) or ARH. (2 days from A&A)
and after a quick call the A&A, and excelsior motorsports....
(both shops recommended ARH)
i decided on ARH.
and andy got them to me in 2 days!

and man do they go in easy! on jack stands, from the bottom, 2 min. each side...... wow, it took longer to get the TSP's OUT!, but they are alot longer..

as far as the AR product? A+ in my book! quality was a 10, fitment was a 10,
ease of install was amazing! this kit was VERY well thought out.

i took a few pics to show the diff. in size.
i also took some weights for ya.

headers.....each
stock-17
TSP-16
ARH-11

X/H pipe....
stock-36
TSP-24
ARH-25

total.... +/-
stock- 70
TSP- 55
ARH- 48

so the ARH kit saved me 7 pounds over TSP even adding cats!
and saved 23 pounds from stock!
this is a great kit! and so easy to install from home! i had it done
in about 4-5 hours. by myself.

i am going to recheck my tune at excelsior motorsports asap and will post up any changes in power between the two kits.

just wanted to share that with you all.....

Great Comparison! ARH Fan here too!
Thanks for the weights, seems an ARH install allows a 10 Pound Nitrous Bottle (26 pounds total weight) and keeps the weight stockish...now if I could only lose about 60 pounds on the driver!

Do you notice any "seat of the pants" power difference? Or, are you planning to dyno? Very good write up.

now if I could only lose about 60 pounds on the driver!
or..... you could pull the a/c, a.i.r, egr, lightweight batt., racing seat,
for a 60 pound loss.....

What were the prices for the headers and X-pipe?
$1,550+tax(120.13)+shipping(2day)30.26 ==== $1,700.39!

it is more than what i wanted to pay for headers for sure.
but after installing a set, pulling them back off. having the car on jack stands for 2 weeks+...... i wish i would have got them from the begining. so much for trying to save some $$$$. you allways get what you pay for!

SOTP..... well the car is quieter, way smoother (no more hitting/vibration)
and i can feal a small change in power. i hope to hit the dyno next week to recheck my tune..... and i will for sure post up some more info!

Good stuff man. Nothing ticks me off more than spending money on something that is supposed to be top notch only to have it grinding on **** in your engine bay...Glad you're enjoying the new ones. BTW, is there a huge difference in the sound between the two header types?

Thanks!

is there a huge difference in the sound between the two header types?
the TSP were louder, but had no cats... the ARH have a better tone, im sure due to the cats. all in all..... the car sounds better. a little quiet for my taste...
i may want to try some stingers later on.

From what I understand, the ARH guy/s left Kooks to start up their own Biz.
yep. NICK was the shop manager.... at KOOKS, and now he does his own. and kooks, has made great headers for YEARS.... but nick made some small changes... and made a GREAT set of headers himself...... A+++++

and if anyone else is having trouble with there TSP headers... call TREVOR over at TSP and he will help you out. i will not bad mouth TSP, i just wish there headers fit better. but there coustomer service is not bad. imo. just the fit of there headers.

I have the same problem only mine are ON the bellhousing no room at all, and they hit the steering arm. I sent a couple people at TSP emails with pictures but no replies... I need to call them I have just been too busy lately to do so. So the TSP headers just will not fit on a Z06 or what? I don't want to have them ship me another set if they aren't going to fit.

M6HuggerSS did you ever dyno the car again after the new headers? I think I talked to you on the Z06 forums about this, but I was just wondering if you picked up any power from the swap. Glad you got your problem fixed.

i ahve a fealing that TSP is getting ALOT of negative feedback on these.
im not sure if a bad batch went out or it was just a poor enginering job to start.

i cant say enough good things about the ARH.

as far as dyno gain? none yet... i actually lost a little on the dyno, due to me adding some Nitto R2's. they are heavier and very sticky and creates alot of drag on the dyno, and i also powder coated my wheels which added to my rotaing mass.

all in all. the car FEALS faster!, sounds quieter, no more banging and vibrating.
and i finally have a good set of tires, (no more spinning!)

I guess thats all that matters cus if you are happier with the results then its worth it. I hate that rattle at startup and shut off then random times while im driving No telling if thats pulling timing or not I can only assume it is. The worst part to me is the steering arm hitting the headers. The ARH had that pipe going under instead of over which would solve that problem, I just cant bring myself to spend the money and time to change them again. Maybe when school gets out I will address this problem, but shame that TSP is having problems with this I have always like their stuff.

From just looking at the TSPs I would say they make better power.

I don't know about that. The ARHs are up there when it comes to making power. A tuner local to me had 3 C6 Z06s with all with the same mods expect for different headers(LG ARH Stainless Works). They all dynoed with about 5whp of each other under the same conditions.

you would think so.... being that the TSP's have a full 3" x-pipe, and no cats.!

but when they are pulling 8+ deg. of KR due to the banging everywhere.....
they dont.

also... ARH have a better collector. similar to the LG design.
and they install in 3 min per side!
