it is a t56... it has differant gear ratios than you are used to, it is the exact same tranny from the c5 z06

So basically it's a t56 in a diffrent shell so that it can be used as a transaxle.

No, it's a T56 that keeps you in a better power band when rowing through the gears, allowing for much better acceleration. The effect is similar to adding 3.73s to your final drive ratio. Downside is decreased top speed on the C5Z, but on the C6 Z51 package they set 5th gear to be even more "cruiser" effective than the traditional MN6, and with the additional power from the LS2, can achieve the highest top speed on any vette produced, save the new C6Z
