Default Thinking of getting a new C6

I recently sold my Z28 Mostly due to it being an A4 but on the upside I've always wanted a vette and was looking at getting a new C6. I was just looking for some of you guys opions on getting one (whether you like them or not, do they take well to mods, and etc.) I'm probably just looking at getting the base model with the six speed. Any help would be appreciated. And yes I've done a search and read everything posted.

Very nice cars & a little more refined then the C5's. If your looking for something to mod I would look at some of the used c5 ZO6's that are out there. There are some low mileage cars that have thousands in mods with very attractive pricing.

I'm not really looking to mod that heavy right out of the gate. The only thing I would look at the first year would be the exhaust. I really don't want to go the used route again. I wanted to buy something brand new and I kind of like the looks of the C6 better IMO.

I can undestand that...there's nothing like a NEW car. I'm fortunate enough to own a C6 Zo6 & it's an absolute blast to drive. I say go for it. Good luck.

If you look at any of the first year runs ('05), make sure that the crank bolt has been checked. Also the painted roof panel has an issue with de-lamination. I think there was also an issue with a hose too close to the engine. A plus on the '06 models, you don't have to park the MN6 in reverse to kill the electrical. If you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to answer to the best of my knowledge. I've had my '06 for 12 months now, and have loved every minute of it!!

I'm currently at ~390/380 with LT's, ORT's, B&B Catback, Halltech intake, and a tune. It takes VERY well to mods.

Love my C6. I came from a 500rwhp 03 Cobra and never looked back. The only issue I've had is dead battery syndrome. Being that mine is an 05 and has to be put in reverse when off, my car still drained the battery. Stock one died in a year and I mean dead, dead. Got a yellow optima and it was drained in about 8 mos. Added a battery charger and all is good.

You will Luv the Vette.

I suggest you get one with the Z51 suspension... better handling &

it has coolers, different tires & the C-5 Z06 M12 transmission.

Can any of you elaborate a little more on the dead battery issue, and other 05 problems. Also, was there a recall by GM to have these issues fixed? Thanks, and hopefully I'm not hijacking this thread...

I have mine a little over 2 years. It is the best car I've ever driven. You won't be sorry if you get one.

I was also wondering how do the stock exhaust sound. I like a little rumble. Will I be able to hold out for a while before I get an exhaust? I know I will hear it next week when I go look but I was just curious.

The M12 transmission alone is worth the $$ difference for the z51 package.

DBS (Dead Battery Syndrome) is a known issue in the electrical gremlins of the 2005's. It happens mostly with the MN6, but some autos have been known to have the problem. I haven't read up on any fixes in a while, but I think most are coping. A lot of battery tenders were sold because of it.

How much abuse will that transmission take. Is it comparable to the t56?
