I need to find a wire that runs off the key under my dash for my gauge light, anyone know which wire I can use?

If you want to tap into the gauge cluster so it dims with the other lights use the brown wire off of the trunk release switch. A good keyed source is the pink ignition wire from the key switch.

 

Some of the vette have three wires in the passenger side foot well by the fuse box. They are covered in black tap. There is a ground-black, a switched and constant power source there. I do not remember if the yellow or orange wire is the switched source though.
