Default Please help. Vette will not start.

I recently swapped in an tsp ls2 402 into my '98 6 spd vette. I have posted up on Corvette Forum and haven't had any responses in a few days. I really would like to get my car running again and get it tuned. If you could help me out I would really appreciate it.

Here's what I have gathered from CF so far:

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1654537

Here's the car and its previous mods that are being reused and that were working before the swap:

black 98 coupe 6spd, 60k miles
ls6 intake manifold, stock ported tb
a&a corvette d1sc procharger kit w/ 4.63 pulley,
afr 205's 59cc chambers,
mti pushrods,
kooks longtubes and catted x pipe,
b&b route 66 catback w/bypass pipes,
60lb mototron injectors,
kenne bell boost a pump

Here's the stuff that just got installed:

texas speed ls2 402 w/ -28cc diamond boost pistons
230/240 591/608 115 custom cam spec'd for my setup by andy at a&a corvette
ls7 lifters
textralia exo skel twin disc clutch
waiting to install lpe fuel pump

Well I'm assuming it's turning over, the next step would be to check for spark and make sure you fuel pump is coming on(possible misswire of the kb boost a pump)

its not turning over, unless i hot wire the starter or pull fuse 23 out. the starter only tries to turn over the motor momentarily then it quits. when i try to start it normally i know there is fuel because when you press the valve on the rail it sprays out. i know there is spark too because i can have a wire unplugged and see the spark arcing out.

Have you checked your wiring on the starter to make sure it is correct and re-connected all of the grounding straps and connections ?

Clutch switch not getting depressed fully with the new clutch install? You said your T/A did something similar if the clutch pedal was not depressed.

yea that would be my theory's also. try the clutch switch, and any grounds or wires leading to the starter. but from your discription. it sounds as if the car isnt getting juice " thus a wire loose or something.

The dealer told us taht if it was the VATS system, it wouldn't even allow the engine to crank over once like it's doing, they said you would just turn the key and nothing would happen, just like if you tried to turn the key without the clutch pedal down. That's how it is in my Trans Am, does that sound right?

That is from WS6.Jay's post on Corvette Forum. I didn't say you'd replaced the T/A's clutch I meant you had replaced the C5's clutch and that the symptoms were similar. Sorry your car is still not running.

ah i see the clutch pedal switch does seem like it is a little bit different. i either have to press it further or less to get it to try to crank.

What's with clutch safety switch ?

It's about a $10 part at GM. You can make a jumper to see if your car turns over correctly.

I have the 3 book service manual for a 2001 corvette, what year is yours ?

Have you checked to make sure that you are getting constant power while cranking with a electrical light tester.

Have you checked the starter to see that it is not binding ?

I would recommend putting a check list together of what you have done and tried so that we are not all spinning are wheels here.

it almost sounds to me like the clutch switch is faulty, providiing just enough continuity for a momentary contact, but then petering out.

have you tried bypassing the switch with a jumper wire?
