Cues of the C6 make me like the C5 better, and vice versa. Its a tough choice. When I bought my Z06 the prices of the C6s were still pretty strong--low 40s, high 30s. However, if I was faced with the choice I'd probably give the nod to the C6.

good answer man! Even the C6Z06 didn't have that "nasty, race car" feel that my C5Z06 did; it was faster, dayyum was it ever, BUT, it still didn't have the same feel to it. Don't get me wrong, if i could let myself spend $75K for a car, it would most definitely be the C6Z06 hands down, but...I actually prefered the "feel" of the C5Z06. Call me crazy, but that's my opinion.

Take all insulation out of it, roll the window down about 1/8 inch, and put some loud exhaust on it and you will have the edgy rough feel of the C5 Z06

i have driven both, and am still unsure.
the 04 Z i drove had some work done to it, but it still seemed slower than a bone stock 06.
this is weird, because apparently the 04 had more HP and weighed less than the 06...but the 06 still felt quicker. Can anyone explain that?
also, how are the LS2 to work on? I know my way around an Ls1/ls6 pretty well

Definitely dig my C5 Z06 and that said I'd recommend a C6 Z51. Its just a more evolved product.
As much as I dig the race car like attributes of the C5 Z06. The c6 is a better all around vehicle.
Good luck deciding.
No wrong decision but as a present owner of a C5 Z I vote to buy a c6.

well, 2 months after deciding to upgrade to a vette, I still haven't decided . Out of curiosity, why was your answer obvious?

But if I had to choose, I'd go C5 Z06. I like the C6, but theres just something about a C5 Z06. The car just screams attitude. If I could find an 02-04 Z06 for a reasonable price, it would find a nice spot in my garage.

i realize that, but what made him choose that one was the question
not that I will use his opinion in my situation, but it is nice to see why others made the choices they made

Think Safety, Safety, and (you guessed it) Safety. The trend is that newer cars (especially from gen to gen) are safer. Anybody know the crash test ratings of the 04 or 05 Vette? Or maybe similar?
+1 for the LS7... As for little differences, the driver is the most important part. I like the C6 though, I heard that the weight ratio was more even.

price is not a concern of mine. I have the money for either car.....i wish I could afford the new Z...but that is a bit out of my range.
I have even contemplated buying a brand new c6.....but there is something about a Z06 that I can't make the decsion yet.

The front to rear weight for the C5 and C6 are the same 51/49 as is the overall weight of the car aprox 3200 lbs...both cars are very safe and do very well in the crash tests..the C6 does have side impact airbags in the 2LT and 3LT option groups ..

I think that the excitement factor for the C6 is amazing. The interrior and exterrior is very sweet and gets alot of looks and compliments if you are looking for that bag. The C5Z06 is just plain mean, race car kinda look and feel. Ive driven both, and I think that stock for stock the C5Z06 might have the C6, but not by very much. The C5Z06 reminds me of my WS6, a little rough, snappy, and feels like you are driving the wheels off. The C6 reminds me of a nice Cady but with the ***** of a Ferrari. The C6 is such a nice soft ride, I could take a 3,000 mi trip and remain comfortable the whole time. All in all I think that performance C6=C5Z06 and looks/style/feel C6<C5Z06. Good luck.

C5Z is loud, mean and light... C6 looks newer, has much newer and updated interior, and will cost more.
If I did it all over, I'd still go C5Z over a C6 Z51 because the Z51 costs a lot more.

if you're seriously considering a C6 you may want to hold out till the '08's hit the streets.
the LS3 is reported to be in the 430hp range and will be the hot ticket, so dealers will be dumping still new '06's and '07's with huge rebates, and possibly 0% interest.
you may even wind up with a killer deal on an '08. I got $9,800 off msrp on my '06 in october of '05.
BTW, closer to Christmas is the best time to haggle with dealers.
just my .02
