Default How the @#&%**!!!!

How do you take of the stock shifter **** on a 02 zo-6? It has an aftermarket shifter and the stock 6-sp shifter ****. I pryed off the 6-sp emblem and there is some kind of metal whatever under there. It is broken in two different places so I can't tell what it's supposed to look like, and I would rather ask questions than break something.

The metal piece comes straight up. Then the factory **** unscrews

I found a pic except I used pliers instead of a flat tip because I didnt want to damage the sides

Thats the metal piece thats broken off on one side. I'll probably have to use vice grips because of that, but at least now I know how to get it off. Thanks for the help.
