Default Nitto 305/45/18
I have a buddy of mine that bought some Nitto Drag Radials which are 305/45/18's but he decided to go with a BFG 315/30/18's instead so he is going to sell the Nitto's. Will the Nitto 305/45/18's fit on my 01 Z06 Vette? The tires are brand new and he is willing to give me a good price on them but I told him that I needed to make sure that they fit my car first. I appreciate any information someone can give me on this.

As long as the rim is 10 to 10.5 inches wide no problem. Any less then that and they will fit but they will bulge really bad. I have 10.5 inch rims and they slightly bulge.

I put them on this weekend...10.5" rim...like a stock Z06...they work great.

The 45's were meant for Lightnings,etc. (taller profile) and the 35's for cars.

I am running Nitto 555R Extreme II's 305/35/18. The 45's are not available here. Just thought that having a taller sidewall is more beneficial for drag racing if that fits and is available.

Definately go with the 35's if possible. Yes, the taller sidewall may allow for more flex. But, it may also look like a 4X4.

The 45 series look really funny under the back of a vette. Go with the 35 series or you will regret it. It will look like you have the rear end of your car jacked up with 305/45/18's. They were designed for the lightning trucks.

I think that the 45's would also throw off the speedometer and even possibly some other computer readings. I just got the 35's for my car but haven't had chance to try them out yet!

The taller tire 28" vs 26" will give you the equivilant of a lower numerical gear (3.42 becomes 3.17) and will hurt your performance much more than the taller sidewall helps. GO WITH THE 35!
