Get more seat time. Ranger on CF took a stock C5Z in the mid 11's with F1 tires.

my first and only time to the track I was only able to hit a best of 12.17 at 119. If thats any consolation. I was at sea level though. Was scared to come out hard early and by the time I started getting confident the sun had gone down and the track with it.

lol you guys need to keep in mind this IS AT 4000 FT ELEVATION WITH DA's in the HIGH 8000's!!! haha

my correction factor is about 1.13 -1.16 on really bad days

im running MT et streets and i clutch dump at 5500-6000 RPM's

60's range from 1.7-1.8's all the way up to 2.2's when im having really bad days hahaha

60' in this pass was a 1.835 heres a pic of the time slip

Of course, there's more to good ETs than just the launch. Once the car is under way, there are still

> the right throttle squeeze
> three shifts with good shift speed
> three shift points near the limiter without kissing it
> staying on the throttle through the traps

I advocate a three element launch. It's described at the link in my signature. Also listen the the audio track on the 10.85 pass. It portrays the rhythm that characterizes fast shifting that permits fast ETs.

It's hard work the requires practice, practice, practice to whittle away at the wastage in our driving.

And at altitude, that's even more true.

hey i didnt know you were on here! cool beans ranger. Thanks for the post.

heres the vid of my pass and you guys can judge just how bad my driving is haha car spun a little at about the 100-150 mark. 60' was a 1.8 (not super great)

burnout was non existent because it was a midnight drag event and its pretty "ghetto" the dude didnt put any water in the water box and they were rushing cars through too fast to worry about it.

Doesn't matter what the DA was with that good 119 mph. You should still be able to run 11s easily. Just got to work on the launch.

For your reference when I had my 98 Camaro I ran an 11.19 @ 118.85 mph. Of course that was with a 1.53 60'.

Tell me what suspension/tires/gears/tranny you have and I'll let you know what you have to do. If you have a standard it's a little harder to get that 60'.

stock suspension dropped on facotry bolts with slightly cut bushings in the back. tires are MT Et streets. 26/11.50/17's. im holding the car in 3rd gear and running through the traps around 7200 RPM's.

trans is a t56rebuilds.com full rebuild w/carbon fiber and billet everything. still has the standard Z06 tranny gear ratios.

stock output shaft on the trans and stock torque tube. Mcleod street twin clutch.

im clutch dumping at around 5-6k and shes hooking up pretty nicely. The car is spinning quite a bit on the 1-2 shift but thats mostly track prep being complete garbage at our track.

Assuming your 02 Z06 gears are the stock 3.42s then that is most of the problem. Based on my calculations you need a 4.30 gear to trap 6615 rpm in forth gear. Going through in 3rd is not ideal. Don't know what your peak hp is but ideally you want to be about 200-400 above peak hp at the lights and in 4th gear. You say it hooks nicely at launch but spins at shift. That tells me you are not getting the torque to the ground at launch. Probably because of too tall gearing. A good side effect too of lower gearing is clutch longevity. Don't have to slip nearly as much at launch.

17" ET Streets might not be enough tire for your hp level. A 15" that has more wrinkle effect would be better. I know it probably won't fit without modification. Perhaps that's out of the question. In light of that then you need to be sure you have adequate rear anti-sway bar stiffness. Don't know how strong the stock 02 Z06 is but you can determine if you need stronger if the drivers side lifts any at launch (with traction of course). Perhaps some polyurethane bushings that mount the bar would be in order. They actually make the bar stiffer as they decrease the amount of wiggle that the soft factory bushings allow. Also adjustable rear bar end links would allow you to preload the bar more. They are available on C6. I'm sure too for your C5. Or perhaps a stronger aftermarket bar.

Your launch rpm sounds about right as long as you are maintaining that rpm and are at full throttle. Don't go below peak torque or hit the rpm limiter at launch. Holding that 6000 sounds good!

I'm assuming you are not getting any wheel hop.

Now keep in mind, my idea of launching is for closer to optimum. If this is a daily driver then you might want to sacrifice some et. With that tall .50 6th gear you can go pretty low gearing and still be satisfactory on the street. A bigger rear bar with poly-bushings would be considered for drag racing only as it can effect handling on road coarse racing. None of my suggestions are for round track.
