Need unbiased input.
Hey there, I need some input on my situation. I own a 99 C-5 and a 97 F-250 truck. I have the older truck to save money so I can afford the vette. Well lately the truck has been breaking almost weekly ( stop the ford comments) and now my wife has been on my case for getting a new truck with a warranty. The truck is costing a lot of money to keep it in good shape. The only problem is that I'd have to get rid of the vette. I really like the car but I'm not attached to it and I'm not about to make it a daily driver as I'm **** about keeping it spotless. The truck is only a 2 seater as well and there my wife and I have also talked about maybe trying to have a kid too. In reality i hardly drive the vette, i dont wrench on it and I think I want to get another race car down the road and I'm not about to chop up a nice low milage vette. I'm about to go look at a new truck in a few hours. What are some ideas? I told her i would sell the truck and replace it with another newer one, but still used. She didn't like the possible problems with it and no warranty. Thanks.

DD the vette. Some of you will cry after reading what i'm about to type...
BUT IT'S JUST A CAR!!!! You can still do your best to keep it spotless. but in reality you will find that it's pretty hard to keep it in show condition 7 days a week. I've driven mine in Snow, Ice, rain, summer heat(live in the upper midwest) and i track it. Very reliable car. The car makes just short of 400 at the wheels and gets great gas milage. Handles well in all weather.. Sure snow is tuff but i still get where i need to. Everything under the car is aluminum or fiberglass. Niether of which rust.
As far as a drag car i keep a full interior. It's raced on the street and the track... Loves both. I'm in the process of saving up for a new rear so i get DR's and can hook up.
What am i getting at... if you really want to keep the vette you could... If you really want a new truck and can't afford to keep the vette then it's time to say good bye and hope to get as much money as possible for it. But i'll be honest C5 prices have really dropped. So i wish you the best of luck on the sale. There will be many C5's around when you are ready for another if not a C6.

i went for a ride in a c6 and it definately beats the **** out of my c5, the are 2 other factors also, the monthly payments would drop about $250 without the 2 cars now with insurance and so on, also if my wife and i have a kid, then there is no room in the vette as a dd.

IMO, if you need a truck for work and live in an area with snow during the winter then sell the Vette and the old truck and get a new truck w/factory warranty. You stated you like the Vette, but hardly ever drive it. You can always get another C5 Vette down the road when money isn't as tight. The money spent on the old truck every month could be used toward a new truck payment and have a dependable means of transportation for going to work, plowing snow, etc.

I think were on the same page here, i'm headed out to look at the new truck now. Like you said i'd rather put a few hundred into a new vehicle instead of an old one thats not been that reliable lately.

Eat, drive a new truck, and make babies...
seriously though... it seems you already know the answer to your question... you can always get another Corvette... or truck for that matter.

I wouldn't DD the vette. I looked at the new truck and i really like it. I just need to get rid of the car. Just for ***** and giggles, i said i wanted to trade the vette in, one dealer flat out told me they dont want it on their lot.

Sell the vette. You can replace it later on down the road. Keep the wife happy and stop dropping money into the truck. That's what I'd do if DD'ing wasn't an option. I daily drive my vette down here in Texas-its my only car.

2008 Ford superduty Crew cab long bed 4x4 Twin turbo powerstroke diesel. I was a local Ford dealer, they were trying to tell me they had a vette once and it was stolen, and that they dont want to insure it while its on the lot. Another dealer further away offered me a decent amount of 20k. If only the new GM trucks weren't made so ugly and car like on the inside and had more options like Ford does I'd be getting a GM.

More interior space, more towing capacity and hauling. beefier suspension. the hp difference is 5 -10 hp(diesel), so no big deal and also I get A-plan. The front end has really grown on me, just like when Gm changed to the 03 style. I just cant seem to like the new silverados.
If you like the previous model GM pickups, have you considered buying a used GM certified and get the 5y/100000mi warranty?

Yeah man like ^ he said I mean its just a car...I mean we only live once why keep the vette lockep up in a garage when youre not enjoying it(Its just some examples) who are you saving the miles for? Some guy in the later years thats going to enjoy it while the one who took care of it is dead I mean jus drive the heck out of it...but back to your point if you need to sell it go ahead and buy another down the line...
