Default C3 Front Bumper conversion

Ok got a question for you, can you change the later plastic style front C3 bumper to the early chrome front C3 bumper?

Anyone know or tried or even done this? Thanks

If it's a '73-'79 then you can swap the front bumpers...

The '80-'82 sharks have a different front clip, so those years aren't possible. (chrome swap)

The rear bumpers are a different story..... not possible (except '73 which still had the rear chrome bumper)

That's probably why you don't see the fronts done... because you can't to the rears...

^^ Yeah '73 marked the year GM had to comply with the 5 mph front impact standards, the next year it had to do the same with the rear (lost chrome out back in '74)

You will have to swap the front clip with a clip from a 68-72 depending on what type of grills you want on the fenders.

There are recesses on both front fenders behind the chrome bumper.

It might be easier to sell the 73 and get a 68-72.

I used to own a red 72 like the one pictured above and got alot of compliments on the car, even girls who knew nothing about cars loved the chrome bumpers.

yea, maybe, just got too good of a deal on this one, I am gonna have no chance finding a 68-72 in this condition for a good price, but Yea I know what you mean about the front chrome bumper, looks WAY better, even guys with 74-82 style vettes are like wow that rear looks way better than my car's

Anyways, I was hoping it would be an easy swap, I thought maybe if I just pulled off the front fiberglass piece it would bolt right up
