Z06 top speed

Just read the June issue of Motor Trend. They tested 10 High Performance cars to see what they can do. 0-60, 0-100, 0-100-0, top speed. The Z06 top speed was 174. Yeah thats fast but I thought they could do even better!?

They have shorter gearing....with the regular gearing out of a non Z06 C5, they are rumored to run into the high 170's to low 180's, but it would require a gearing change. Remember, it still beats the ZR1 in all departments except top speed (it loses top speed by a whole 7 MPH as I remember).....lol

I can vouch for that top speed.

It is gear limited, but the car pulls to it very quickly!

Dont know about the z06, but i have hit 172 in my 99 coupe (when it was stock). havent done a top speed run after mods, but prolly could pull mid 170's.

Aerodynamics as well. The hardtop/Z06 body style has a slightly higher cd (at those speeds it can make a difference) than the targa/coupe does so that might be why it is limited as well.
