if you pick one of the top 3 you will be happy. lg, kooks, american racing(new to the market compared to the others but doing well so far).

so many people like to post what they have on their car and that is the best!!1! well its on their car so its the best right? anyway i have kooks and have been happy. buy any of the top brands and you will be happy.

as far as dyno proven blah blah. dyno tricks can be done to prove anything you want. just make sure you get long tubes and not shorty headers you will be happy.

I have Dynamaxx headers. Even though they fit great, if I was to do it again, I would go with LG pro's. Why? Because the 4 bolt collector flange on the Dynamaxx is a PITA, especially if you are running a wide band on a seperate bung.

Default Currently Dynamaxx

I currently have 1 5/8 Dynamaxx's on my C5. I will be changing to 1 7/8 primarys soon and I'm looking at AR's.

I agree with Red99C5, the 4 bolt flanges are a pain on the Dynamaxx headers.

Perhaps, but IMO the less slip-fit/clamp joints the better. Personally I like the design of the ARH headers w/ the welded-in cats/xpipe,, xpipe before cats, ball and socket joint at the header collector and only 2 slip fit/clamp joints further down the way.

If'n I hadda do it again, that's the way I'd go.

I agree. I went with the ARs over the LGs due to their engineering. I didn't want any slip-joints. As a bonus, the ARs sound cool as hell. The pre-cat x-pipe gives them a unique tone. That said, power-wise you can't go wrong with any of the big 3.

Right now I have FLP 1 3/4", but I will be moving over to LG Pro 1 7/8" here shortly I initially bought the FLP because the cats could 'easily' be switched for off road pipes. Switching is much harder than I thought.....

Lg's Pro longtubes are 1 3/4, not 1 7/8. I think they have some 1 7/8 in the works for bigger cubed Engines.

Like said earlier go with any of the top 3 and you'll be fine. Im using AR headers. The car makes good power and the sound through them and the Ti's is completely different from anything I have heard but it's totally awesome.

I got the cheapies from TSP with the X pipe. I should have gone with Kooks or LGs. There were some fitment issues and I'm just not really thrilled with the idea of mild steel headers. They're ceramic coated, but it still won't last like a stainless header. I have Kooks on my F body. If my C5 ever gets to the point where bigger primaries would benefit me I think I'll get another set of Kooks headers.

I only got them as a temporary "fix" because I was planning on going the twin turbo route but the fitment of the TSP headers is just about the worst I have ever seen.

They are definitely the cheapest headers to get but remember, you get what you pay for. Be prepared for a fight when installing them and make sure your expectations aren't very high when it comes to how good they fit and how well things line up.

I installed a set on my buddy's 98' coupe. they fit perfect.

Edit: Damnit! I just looked at the LG pro longtubes and now I want those! I also like the fact that it comes with the x-pipe. $750 for the TSP headers vs. $1600 for the LG pros is a big difference though. But you gotta pay to play. Can someone convince me with some hard facts why these would be worth spending the extra money on.

+1 for the SSautochrome (Ebay) headers, i have a set on my C5, full stainless very good quality, easy install and fit is good, for the price they absolutely cannot be beat, and have dynod = to the high dollar headers.

Here's my experience w/ headers..

I HAD LG PRO Longtubes... great headers no doubt about that..

BUT...

I was told that if you drag race, the KOOKS would offer MORE on the top end, than the LG's since their primaries are of equal length & not as long..

Apparently the LG's loose some of their scavenging effect over 4000 rpms, & thats where the KOOKS takes over..

I gained 10 RWHP & 8 RWTQ from 4000-7000rpms w/ the KOOKS which netted me about a .05 quicker ET when I run it out..

So, my advice is LG's are fine, but, if you want to squeek out every last available ounce of HP & loose nothing down low go w/ the KOOKS..

They're not woth the extra money IMO especially if your vette doesn't see a lot of bad weather. If your vette is just a weekend cruiser then ceramic coated will be just fine. Personally I think stainless is overkill. For 750 you get a 3" midsection with the TSP headers and just like you I had no problems with fitment. For what the LG's cost I was able to do a cam as well. I want what everyone else is smoking when they say spending 750 on an exhaust is going cheap.

Vince, this had better be for a different Corvette that you're building.

I agree with what everyone has said about the top 3 when it comes to power. All are high quality pieces. At one point I think Kooks was having problems with parts rusting, but I don't think that's the case anymore.

Installers that we speak to seem to prefer ARH over other brands because they fit right in from the bottom without much effort. There are plenty of shops out there doing ARH *installed* for the margin you'd expect on just the sale of the part (15% or less). That serves as a great indicator as to how easy the install is.
