.
Actually the LSX is probably more reliable than the Benz or a Viper. MB does not have a great rep for reliablity....These two cars are totally different. Like I said do you want a fast sports car or a quick four door....the Viper will turn more heads and walk the Benz....but the Viper will not scratch your *** for you, the Benz might. (Im sure that is a luxo option)

And an even better question is how the hell are you cross shopping a four door sedan with a big motor, against a drop top sports car with an even bigger motor.

Have you even driven an E55 before? I know the reason you are considering this vs the Viper is price. Therefore you are shopping within a certain price range. If that is true the E55 is the better car IMHO. It will stay with a stock C5Z in a straight line. There is nothing like getting over 500ft/lbs of torque kicking you in the ***. On the highway at 45mph then nail it. I would bet the Viper would have his hands full. Great cars, great luxury and a true status symbol if you care about that. An MB buyer and a Dodge buyer once you get over $90k for a brand new car ARE two different segments. One blue collar, one white collar. I will let you figure it out from there. Oh, and I also want a SRT-10 coupe and E55 to go with my C5Z.

what he said. I talked with a guy that works at a benz dealer. Says they have had problems with alot of the higher performancce models. Not sure why though.

I say you want a fast family car get the benz, you want an exclusive badass car get the viper. I think that the vipers will hold their own when it comes to how much they are worth, not many out there.

I can't believe some of you people are dissing the Viper, saying it'll get boring and ****. Does your F-body ever get boring, do you not get a thrill going 80 down a twisting road? I sure as hell do.

By the way Quicken, until a few months ago, Mercedes and Dodge were owned by the same company. Merc helped out with the new SRT-10 So don't give Dodge or any American car ****.

i tend to agree with this statement. i think they are both very fast cars, but you have to have two completely different desires picking between one or the other. one is pure muscle, the other is luxury made to be fast. i'd take a look at your goals and decide to pick from there.
fwiw, i got me an 07 Z06 (pure muscle), then 2 weeks later got me a sedan, E550 (luxury with fast engine). i could have gone ***** out and gotten the E63, but i figured that the Z was for the speed, the E for the class.

Like someone stated earlier I was cross shopping by price...Me and my wife discussed it and I was limited to 55K MAX...

The two best cars I could think of for my $$$ limit were the SRT10 and E55AMG...

The stats in my mind....

SRT10 Viper

-2003-2004 for 50-55K
-0-60 in 3.9
-1/4 mie in 11.9 at 122 mph
-sexy bottom level super car looks
-2 seater that kids will never really enjoy
-wife cant drive stick so she'll never really enjoy

VS

E55 AMG

-2004-2005 for 50-55K
-0-60 in 4.3
-1/4 mile in 12.3 at 117 mph
-Very Nice lookin 4 door
-seats the hole family
-wife can drive when ever she wants

As far as the interior goes ive seen my friends 2004 AMG many times and to me the SRT10 is just as nice with the push button start and black leather/suead...

So really it came down to getting somthing I could enjoy and really really wanted vs somthing my family could enjoy and I would like to have...

WELL IM A GREEDY BASTARD CAS I BOUGHT MY WITH ONE OF THOSE 2004 NISSAN QUEST WITH THE REMOTE OPEN DOORS AND TRUNK AND JUST WIRED THE MONEY FOR THE SRT10 A FEW HOURS AGO....

if i ever need to take the kids some were and my wifes not home then I have a lincoln navigator that is in the shop having electrical issues repaired and will be ready in a few days.....

I feel a lil guilty but getting her the van she wanted lets me feel a lot better about the two seater..

So it'll be here in around 2-3 weeks and IT'S NOT STOCK...

That was me on price comparisons cause I do it to. Most don't understand because its apples to oranges which it is to a point. If it were me (based on your last comments) I would go with the E55. You've had a Viper recently and if it were everything you wanted in a car you wouldn't even be looking at something else. Most people here do not know the features that come with the E55. To state that the Viper's interior is almost as nice is very telling. It isn't even close. The air suspension that will automatically raise and lower the car (or you can do it manually), room for 5 adults, air conditioned seats that have every feature known to man, suede leather on the ceiling the comes down to the dash, climate control all around, stereo that rocks, nav, etc. The list goes on. All in a car that is a low 12's sec car. Plus it will be cheaper to insure. But, I can put together a list for the Viper that would be just as compelling but you already know it. Besides it looks like you have that new Viper coming soon. Good luck and post up pics.

I never dissed the Viper, I never said any car was or will get boring. I stated a FACT that only a moron can argue with, and that is the fact that a Mercedes Benz, especially a very high end MB, is light years better than a Dodge or any other American car. I'd love to hear someone tell me an American car is better than one of the HIGH END MB's. After I get off the ground from laughing we'll chat about it.

By the way Quicken, until a few months ago, Mercedes and Dodge were owned by the same company.
I hope you don't think that when a company buys another, especially in the automotive industry, that they simply close the factories of one and make both cars in the other with the same workers???????? MB's are still made by the same people in Germany who truly take pride in their work, I've been their and in many other countries in this world seeing people in factories who show that same pride, and its a VAST difference in how foreigners take alot of pride in their work as compared to.....our great American auto workers who cry and bitch like little ******** with their union losers behind them trying to get them raises every year.

I like American made things, I'm an American and I will always support America. But when it comes down to speaking the facts, a Viper is a huge pile of junk compared to a high end Mercedes, period.

DAYUM..tell me how you really feel..

As far as the amg..Ive seen my friends interior many times and only rode once...I was just going off visual alone in my comparison of the interiors..he never took the time to show me all the stuff it could do.

As far as speed i know they are fast..

When my 1999 Viper was bone stock it dynoed 410 rwhp and 465 rwt..

my buddies e55AMG dynoed 413 rwhp and 470 rwt..

We raced from a freeway roll of 60 mph a few times..the rCES WERE PRETTY MUCH DEAD EVEN..

the Viper would be pulling a little bit but then i would have a lil trouble shifting (only had the car a week) and he would pull back even..

Out conclusion was that with equal drivers the gen2 viper was only a lil faster than the E55AMG but you had to bring your A game to beat the AMG's auto shifting...
