Id say E55…. low 12's 4seats can drive it cross country and be extremely comfortable… plus I see viper prices dropping like a rock when the 600hp ones really start hitting the show rooms.

Go with the Viper, but if you are going to get a SRT-10 wait until the 08 Viper comes out. If you decide on another gen II, then buy it whenever, those prices will not change to much. The E55 AMG is a sweet car and all but, if you do not need the back seat why get one?

No. If you are going for fast get the Viper....if you need to haul the kids around quickly get the E55....two very different cars.

The E55 is also a car with 100 times the quality of a Dodge or any American made car for that matter, you must factor that in too. You can also mod the E55 to get another 100 hp out of it with the factory warrantee in place. My friend has a '07 Vette and his father has a 2005 E55 AMG with $10,000 in Rentech mods (pulley and chip I think), the E55 walks away from a dig and any rolling speed race......easily.

That pulley and chip must make a HUGE difference. I guess if they charge 10k for them it better
I walked a E55 pretty bad a while back but considering his car is over 1000lbs heavier and less hp then my lightly modded Z06

It's my understanding that a stock E55AMG and stock 2002Z06 both trapp 114-117 mph in the 1/4 mile..

but the AMG puts the power down a lil better with the auto and there are more 11 second bone stock AMG's than C5z06's...

Correct me if im wrong

I say e55amg, nothing better than a 4door luxo mobile that beats on bolt on "sports" cars.

A viper has poor visibility, less comfort than an F-body, very dangerous for an inexperienced driver. Benz = very fast, very comfortable, better build quality, alot easier to drive. If you want a race car that will get annoying to drive after a while, get the viper. If you want a fast car that is easy to drive and comfortable, get the benz. Also look into the new ZO6. Faster then the viper and benz + comfortable and friendly enough to drive everyday ( in the summer ).

BTW: Its Really Gay To Capitalize Every Word. I Hope You Don't Ever Have To Type A Letter Or Report For Work.

I checked a few sites, and very high 11s with 117mph are doable with DRs. I know a few E55 owners and the car is a beast-went to a rental event and some owners ran their cars 20-30 times down the strip that night with no problems. Here is a 2004 E-55 with about $10-15k in performance mods:

http://www.dragtimes.com/2004-Merced...eos-10814.html

If you need seating for five, want to own a sleeper that beats many performance coupes, then the E55 is a great choice. If you only need 2 seats, I would not buy one as very expensive to mod, weighs close to 4,100 lbs and handles like such. Good luck with your decision.

Not sure Id consider these 2 cars in the same league. Power being only one component to a car, I think you need to evaluate your goals here.

The Viper is a rugged, raw sports car. If you want looks and speed, this is it.

If you want to drive in a nice, smooth, fast 4 door and turning heads isnt your goal, go for the E-55. Just my .02

It does, and thats the low level kit. Other kits are upwards of $30,000, but now you have a factory warranteed 600 HP luxury car. And its Mercedes man, not Chevy or Dodge with zero warranty and a ticking time bomb with a highly modded, loud, gas guzzling LSx engine. You have a car that will easily go 100,000 miles without a problem.

Not quite. The FI benzes have a pretty bad rep as far as quality goes. Lots of issues.
