Default Porting TB?

Is there any gains to doing this on an 02 Z06? Is it as easy as LS1howto makes it out to be? I'm doing a cam swap with LG Pro headers and had the TB off. Just wondering if it would be worth the time and effort.

I've heard that the gains aren't worth the effort; but I've never done the mod, so can't tell ya by experience.

Thanks guys, I guess if I get restless and annoyed enough buy the shape of the walls I will have at it. Not sure at this time, though.

I'll have to do some research and see if it has any response time aid or if it is just a wasted mod like the TB Bypass. I did that, though. Hmm

I'd do it, especially if you have the tools and you can do it right..

I bought a used Shaner for my '01 Zo6.

I could sense a minor difference in throttle response right after I did it....

I don't have the tools and am pretty sure not sure which ones I'll need. I think I'll wait a week or two and buy a ported one from Katech.

Thanks guys,

Josh

For the mods you have it will not give any real power increase, but it should give a little better throttle response.

I was just thinking about the mods that I'm doing right now.
G5X3 cam, 921 springs, LG Pro Headers, LS2 Timing chain, P/Bp LS6 oil pump.

I still think I'll just wait and get one already ported.

You will get about 5-8 HP and a better throttle responce for your efforts. Free HP is good..just invest a little labor and your there ..

Even if you get 5hp it's not worth the bother unless you are going for a ***** out NA combo. I've never understood wasting time with 5-15 hp mods. You'll never notice that little power difference. Really anything under 30 is a waste IMO.

I like to add power in 100 hp increments.

Mods almost never work that way, unfortunately. If they did we'd all have 1,000 hp.

A lot of guys just like to "tinker" with their cars. Any gains that can be had for little to no money sure are nice

Also, not everyone has the resources / funds to add power in 100 HP increments.
