Default Test drove an 03 Z06 today..........

To tell the truth, I was dissapointed. Car was a yellow 2003 w/9K miles, not moddes at all. Really nice car no scratches or anything. Really clean. But the car seemed to be a dog. I know the SS has 100+ rwhp on it, but still I expected more. I was in the market for noe, now i'm not sure. I may test drive another one or check out the 08 C6. Also the Z06 seemed to have huge blind spots in the driver side side view mirror. I did love the feel of inside the car. I really felt like I belonged there, just no power compared to my 430rwhp SS.

Anyone who went from a heavy modded F-body to a Z06 chime in? Like to have some insight into how you felt when driving it for the first time.

That's strange,,,,the '03 Z even bone stock should be at least as fast as your modded SS. My car when it was stock hit low 12's easily on street tires.

I was kind of expecting it to be close to my car. That's why I was dissapointed.

There was absolutely no comparison between my old car and the Z both listed in my sig. I have learned to drive the Z by taking classes and doing lapping. There is no way my WS6 would be able to do the things this car does stock even with some of the things you have done. The weight and distribution of it is too much to overcome. One thing you need to remember is that you use a whole different technique with the Z vs the f-body. Next, did you turn TC off? You times in your sig are the norm for a Z.

I have never heard of one person say what you just said! Ever! Maybe it is a dog??? Test drive another and see? I'm actually speechless.

Well all you have to do is supercharge the c5 Z and it will out handle, out perform your old car in every way you can imagine. The c5 z's got more performance potential then your SS mod for mod. So mod the z the way your SS is for a real comparison.

I am just as baffled as everyone else here is...

My exhaust only Z06 ran heads up with a 11.50 auto SS yesterday. In a straight line, the car is fast. Your able to spin that motor to 7k with no mods...

On the other hand, in the turns, it made my modded 01 SS (lowering kit, shocks,SFCs,PHB,LCAs) feel like a VW bus... The Z06 is a better car in everyway. So I figured that theres 1 of 2 things that you should do here...

1) Go test drive another. Maybe that one had something wrong with it.

2) Bump up to a Ferrari Enzo as that may be the only thing that does impress you..

Oh, and a bolt on Z06 would pull your SS by a few cars so you should definitely see a difference. Try another Z out as that yellow one sounds like it has an issue.

Theres no possible comparison for the two cars. The power to weight, and distribution of weight, is on a whole other playing field. I play with 500hp cobras and 470hp camaros all day, off the bottle. no problem. The Z was built for a diferent performance level. I suggest taking a ride with someone that knows how to drive the Z and then base your decision. If that dosnt do it for ya, look into ferraris or something.

Most of the time i hear this, people are driving with the traction control ON!
Turn it off/or put it competitive mode-Makes a big diff.
Also don't shift till 6-6500 rpm

It's is the 4.10's! Gears and loud exhaust make your car seem much faster than it actually is. I had a stang with 4.10's magnapacks and no cats. Most people (even myself if i didnt know better) would think that car is faster than my vette. When in reality my car is probably a full second quicker.

I did take the salesman in a ride in my car after. He believed me after the ride. i did not rev the **** out of the Z06. I will test drive another & the 12 sec slip is before H/C.

I did not take the tcs off. But I was punching it from a roll & it felt slow as hell.

yea I agree with Doc. I test drove a yellow Z06 with 13,000 miles on it before. Total dog and there was no throttle response. Drive another one!

Hell, my '01 Zo6 (near stock) burns tires at will anywhere in 1st or 2nd...

I actually drove a yellow '03 today as well.. (I'm not kidding)
and it was a little stronger than my '01.

I've come from a 550rwhp f-body and I'm much happier with my Corvette, plus I don't have to work on it all the time. Just drive it.
