Default another noob exhaust question

Im trying to see if buying a $1000+ exhaust system will do anything to help the performance of my car. because I've been reading the forums and some people say that the power you gain is cancelled out with the extra weight should i just buy an intake and better tires instead. HELP!!!

buy longtubes and keep the stock Ti exhaust. Sounds good not to loud.

Default mufflers

I went LG Longtubes, no cats and kept the stock TI's...tested open headers and thru the mufflers on the same day and didn't pick up ET or MPH. I say leave them on unless you don't like the sound. Here is a sound clip for ya.

actually he ran a stop sign but once pulled over the cop asked about his ticket records of street racing and started checking his car and asked to see proof that headers were legal or not. and everyone knows what happens after that

Thx but it's really not that loud. I think the vid enhances the noise level. You can't hear the cam except from the back..and quiet as can be going down the road. Just at half gas to WOT does it get loud..then it is real loud.

Just buy electric cutouts.....check out Quicktimeperformance! I have Dumps with stock exhaust and no cats. The T1 sounds great with no cats but once I open those dumbs, its way to loud....Defently buy Tires and Dumps for under a grand.....

Shorties are a waste of money. Dumps are good if you only want the extra performance when you have them open, but LT's and high flow cats make it a pleasure to drive all the time. My numbers below demonstrate a definite improvement over stock C5 and this is with timing pulled for the spray.

Good luck!

I put on a set of long tubes with a catless x-pipe on my Z and kept the stock ti cat back. Sounds awesome. Only gets really loud when you get on it. Otherwsie normal driving it sounds nice.

btw "F" california and there bs laws. That is the biggest reason I whill never want to live there. Impound your car for headers!!! Why don't they impound all the illegal aliens in that state??? LOL
