Painted rear valance!!
Painted rear valance!! Well, I had been reading pretty much every thread I seen about this on vetteforum and figured I'd give it a shot. It took me about 2 hrs to prep and mask everything yesterday, and today I cleaned it up before painting it, took maybe 45 mins to paint waiting 15 mins or so inbetween coats. Lol, the hardest part is building up enough nerves to scuff the bumper.
I used a grey scuff pad, flat black bumper paint (with flex agent in it) 2 types of masking tape, 1 was a 1/8 inch thin (for pinstriping) worked great to mark my line, and a 1/2 inch masking tape for the rest, rubbing alcohol to clean the bumper after scuffing it and newspaper. I was told by a friend who paints to use the grey scuff pad insted of sandpaper (although I know a fine sandpaper would work) But he said with the scuff pad there would be less chance of getting some deep scratches that would show up. Anyway, I love the way it looks, now I need to do it on our Z06.

Actually I like it flat (kinda looks like the C6 rear) which is flat black looking, although its a plastic piece. Ive seen it painted gloss black (or with a clear over it) and I didnt care for it, but everyone is different.
