i guess i am the only one who thinks you dont need a freakin corvette at the age of 17. its too much power for you. i got a quote for my Z, it was 3400 per year full coverage... thats based strictly off age. i went to state farm, and they did it based on my policy(should have gone here first) and its 1600/year full coverage. i have a bad driving record, and lots of claims from other people stealing or vandalizing my ****.

its kind of bad how the C5 is going down in price and a 17 year old can buy one. insurance rates are not going to be cheap for much longer. might be time to move up to a C6Z in a year or two.

yeah i think once i get my car i will actully be a better driver and i will for sure put my car as a occasional driver on my dads account which should save me alot of money

yeah i know your thinking "thats way too much power of a 17 yr old" but the way i think of it

if i was to get a camaro it would just as much power and now that the prices have dropped because of the C6 . corvettes are just as much as camaros with 10 to 20k more miles on them

and around the time i get the car the prices will have dropped even more .. better than buying a honda or toyota

as of now my record is 100% clean

thanks for all the rates and replys

I picked up my 2000 Trans Am WS6 when I was 19. My insurance was $80/month but that was under my parent's full coverage.

I switched to my own insurance policy with only myself on it, and it dropped to $45/month full coverage, and that was with the upgraded 100K/300K coverage.

I just sold my Trans Am a month ago and got a 2002 Z06. I have the same insurance policy just switched cars, and it jumped to $54/month full coverage. I'm only 21 right now. Multi-car discount(winter truck + vette), insanely good credit, and a clean record is how I'm pulling that off.

I'm using AAA and I'm in central Minnesota.

Yeah, they have good coverage, and were the cheapest by far. I did one of those online quotes and had a ton of quotes come in, and in the end, AAA was the cheapest. Also got a discount for signing up for a AAA membership, so that is a small added bonus as well.

^^^hey where are you from? i'm outta Paynesville, near St.Cloud I agree that it may not be smart to have a car like that at that age but if you can do it then go for it. Be ready for the Vette tax on EVERYTHING including a clutch change. It's 11hours minimum labor to have a clutch installed PLUS the clutch. your talkin' $1200+ for a clutch and install. Then you have to worry about the electrical nightmares they have, and other stuff. Not trying to turn you away, it's just stuff to think about is all. IDK how big of school you have but DON'T drive it to there. I GUARANTEE it will get vandalized by some jealous f*ck. i'd almost bet on it~Cole~

I grew up in Monticello, right between St. Cloud and Minneapolis. Currently working and living in Buffalo, which is 8 or so miles west of Monti. I work in the same building as a real estate development company, and they all have company trucks. ******* sucks to park there. No matter where it is, someone parks next to you, even if there are closer spots open. My Trans Am had dings all over. I'll probably drive my truck to work from here on out.

So I agree on the school thing. If you do end up getting one and driving it to school, you better not be a dick to anyone, cause the first thing they will go after is your car. Shitty thing is, you probably don't even have to be a dick for someone to go after your car. That, and parts are expensive as all hell. Makes me sad in pants.

Vette insurance is cheaper than a Camaro... lower risk car. However, if you get in an accident in the vette compared to the camaro, the insurance for the vette will be much higher. I just turned 23 and my insurance is like 2 grand a year in NJ which isnt bad at all. I have a clean driving record. My biggest concern for you would be the price of routing maintenance on a vette.... parts are CRAZY expensive which I didn't know when I bought the car, and the vette tax BLOWS!

yeah my school has about 2200+ kids .. i dont know how it compares to other schoolss but it seems like a decent size

yeah but the real problem is people need to learn how to drive haha .. i get pissed on a monthly basis because of my car(it adds up) .. scratches and what not .. somebody gave me a quarter size dimple and chipped my paint on my FL 1/4 panel last month

what i will start doing is parking on the edge and double park when i get the vette

Don't double park, you will just be asking to get your **** keyed!
just park in an end spot far away and get a buddy to park next to you so no one door dings you.

check the nhtsa statistics on collision damage averages or whatever it's called. corvettes have some of the lowest damage percentages of any sports cars out there so im guessing thats why insurance is cheaper on them. I was reading a pamphlet that listed all the damage percentages, or whatever theyre called, for cars of 2002-2003 model year and corvette was like 93 with average being 100. some cars had scores of like 3-400 (thats very bad).

for you as primary on a c5 expect 3 gs bro. give or take a few bones

seccondary, 2 gs give or take

I dont know how, other than I have a good driving record but I pay $100 a month for a 01 Z06 and a 99 Silverado and I am only 21. And this is on my own policy. I have pretty good coverage on both also.

I pay 186/mth for an 03 cobra and I'm 22. I think a vette would be cheaper but that's cause it makes less power
