I really like my valentine. When the company improves the design, they let owners return current units for the newest upgrades, for a fee of course. It seems hard to go wrong with the V1 or the latest passport.

I like my V1. I have had it for about 8 years and it still works as good now as it did then. It is not the nicest looking unit but it works. It has easily paid for itself over the years.

Overall I actually like the escort better, but the V1 feature with directional arrows showing you WHERE the signal is coming from is very nice.

Can't go wrong with either.

Have the V1. Had a passport previously, but got two tickets with it, so it went on ebay. The V1 has saved my butt countless times, and once you use one, you won't want any other detector unless it has the arrows pointing in the direction of the radar. No complaints whatsoever.

I'm looking into getting the Passport 8500 X50, or possibly the BEL STi Driver... The BEL is invisible to Radar Detector Detectors (RDD) and has excellent performance supposedly

Either way it'll be a good investment... Has anyone seen the new Passport 9500i? It has GPS in it and a USB link. You can program it to lock out areas you know are false alarms, and to alert you when you come into areas you know are speed traps and not to mention other things....

I have a V1 and am perfectly happy with it. That said, the 8500 is also very good and I'd be happy with either.

I do like the fact that the V1 can always be upgraded for a small fee when newer versions come out.
