Default Zturd Still Has The Crown

Z, no new records today, you still rule. Didn't get my clutch fixed in time so I had a bunch of missed gears and very slow shifts. First run was on no burn out..11.4 and got busted. You can see he knocks on my window in vid 2. It was 81 degrees and hot as could be. Did get several good sixty's but couldn't bust into the 1.4's today. However, it was blue skies and lots of fun trying. Here are some vids even though I had to hit the brakes. Just practiced my sixty foot all day.
See vids in quarter mile section LAST TRACK DAY OF 2007

Merry Christmas !!

Nice going pit. You deserve better weather and a clutch that works!
Or maybe a spare trans!

We all suck, freaking weather around here blows azzz!!!! Its either raining or snowing now. Only what 2 weeks left and ofcourse I work this one. Hence this weekend will be the best weekend to make it happen. I really would like the take the cake out of several of us hitting 10's NA with H/C/I.
I seen you had the GTO spares on. How were your 1/8th miles? Any sub 7.0's??? Give a run down of some of the slips, I'd love to see your 330fts and 1/8ths if you dont mind.

Plan now is if I don't get this damn clutch right...gonna get a different "used" vette with an Auto and LS3...swap out my heads and intake and start over. This is year 2 on this clutch problem.
If....I can get this clutch fixed... I am going to have to do the roll bar cause hittin the brakes sucks !! Pit

Hey Z, no sub 7's in this heat...in the last 3 weeks :
My sixty's have been 1.582, 1.489, 1.529, 1.693, 1.510, 1.513, 1.577, 1.579, 1.539, & 1.580.

330's of 4.714, 4.616, 4.828, 4.809, 4.883, 4.618, 4.937, 4.766, 4.822, & 4.791

1/8th times were 7.264, 7.174, 7.423, 7.364, 7.508, 7.157, 7.531, 7.408, 7.157, & 7.376.

1/8th mph were 94.30, 94.53, 92.56, 93.55, 92.07, 96.83, 96.01, 91.40, 92.89, & 93.40

The above can be matched as they are in order. If you still want my slips let me know, I will scan them in for ya and post ! Some 1/8 miles are slower from missing second gear. My clutch sux so bad.
I hot lapped the middle six runs so the clutch was really giving me trouble.

Hey Boost,
short story, the clutch/Tranny shifts like the clutch isn't disengaging all the
way. Same story on both clutches and both trannys I have had. Driving me crazy and broke. Installing a McLeod this week and see what happens. Will keep you posted.

Well pitman to let know how much I feel couped up and haven't driven my car since the day I took it to atco that I actually sat here and timed in my head what kind of ET your avatar is running. I come up with a high 14sec pass, going by the yellow light coming on as a shift and the end of the run SHOOT ME!

Z, that was funny as hell, I don't care who you are..LOL
You must be about bored to death. You could start another Pave1 thread, at least you would have pages of material to read (never mind, please don't). Never bordom time in the south...fricken grass is still growing...without rain. We have my son's Silverado to play with too...NA, 12.80 (no vid) so far with a 5.3 and my ZO6heads. He does all the tuning on mine and his.

Here is an inside vid to help you wake up.

you say it shifts like the clutch isn't disengaging, but what are the symptoms?
is it hard getting in or coming out of gear?
is it a problem every gear?
does it happen @ high RPM, low RPM or all the time?
how about when the car isn't running, does it go into every gear OK?

Don't spare the details either. seems odd to me that you've had the same identical problems with 2 different setups, make sure you know exactly what the problem is before you just started replacing parts.

Thanks for the intrest Boost, here we go...Problem is at high rpm and every gear.

Shifts fine when not running...in and out of gear

You feel slight resistance in every gear when running around town driving easy. Pulls out of gear easy.

Hold half throttle and run the rpm's up and it will power shift like glass. Pulls out of gear fine.

Hold throttle to the floor (when racing) and it doesn't want to go in gear at high rpm's. You have to wait on the tranny to slow down to get it in gear. Trying a quick or power shift is like hitting a brick wall. Pulls out of gear fine.

History (sorry....you ask).
Stock setup didn't shift very well so I Put in new RPS Stage 4+ clutch. Car wouldn't shift fast at high rpm's. Thought the problem was blocker plates in tranny because clutch was new.

Then 6th gear syncro broke...had Next Level in Orlando go thru tranny (they farmed it out) because of broken syncro and shift problem. They replaced all worn parts. Still wouldn't shift at high rpm. No one could answer if problem was tranny or clutch.

Then did drill mod..(doesn't do anything).

Pulled tranny and rear end and sent to RPM. They went thru tranny and also put in 390 gear. Put it all together and....Still wouldn't shift at high rpm.

Geoff at Next Level then called RPS and ask they inspect their clutch because that was 2 tranny's. We pulled and sent to them. RPS said they had an expiermental Stage 4+ and didn't account for thickness and replaced all for free (by now I am out 6 billion in tranny parts and labor). Installed and all seemed great till I got to the track...still won't shift at high rpm's (must be why they make Auto's). This is really not funny...I am about to give up on this car.

I feel your pain. I think I trashed my 4rth gear syncro last time out for the second time. I've had two manual Mustangs I have tracked before the vette and have never hurt the trans. Just like you mention it feels as though there is something stopping it from going in gear. I hate hydraulic clutch systems.

Pitt-man dont give up on her, shes oh so close and you out of everybody will get to go to the track more so and make it happen while we wait till march for the tracks to reopen and be runnable.

Sounds to me you need to do a simple clutch replacement with a Textralia single disc or twin for that matter and have some happy driving. I shift at 6700rpm and looking to move that up i think. I think I need to hold 3rd past the 1/8th will help but just theory.

Default Clutch

Z,
I probably will try one more clutch if it turns out to Not be the hydraulics...Then I give up on this car unless someone on line can give me the details on swapping out to an automatic and I hear it is a real big pain, a real bee-otch !!! I know it has been done by one guy at least !

Hey, if I get fixed and get to run again in February while yours is tucked away...will that be like kicking a Z when he is down ??? Ha-ha. Man, you need to trailer that puppy South !! Get up from that tv and computer !

Maybe just give you some mile per hour in the quarter too. My cam flat lines from around 5800 up...running my gears out a hair more seemed to help my mph. With a clutch like mine though, everything is just a guess. You have several weeks to plan how to kill me a little more !! Pit
