1. As stated earlier the '53 and '54 Corvettes had inline 6s
2. GM designers have come up with mid-engine concepts for the Corvette almost everytime they do a redesign. But sense the Corvette has been a front engine rear drive car since 1953, GM will not let the Corvette be a mid-engine car.

The Mid Engine concepts are called CERV (Chevrolet Engineering Research Vehicle; or might be CORVETTE Engineering Research Vehicle). There have been several of these cars.......I, II, and III that I know of. Might be more. They have been around since the mid sixties I think.
They need to make it a different car. Like....................
