Default 05 c6

I'm thinking about picking up an 05 c6 and I was wondering if there is any known issues. I know of the automatics draining the battery however the one im looking at is a m6 with the z51 package. It has 35k miles for 33k with intake and aftermarket rims. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

^ Not a bad price, no major things to worry about...

6spd Z51 sounds like the ticket..

I looked at the pictures of it again and I think it's not the z51. It's got the z51 brakes but the selective ride control on the inside.

on all 2005 mn6 models, you must park the car in reverse for the electrical system to properly shut down. If you park in any other gear, the battery will drain. The targa top on 2005s and early model 2006s also have been known to delaminate, but there is a TSB to fix that, and it only affects body color roofs. There are a couple of other quirky first year issues that some complain about, but nothing that I can think of at the moment. good luck!

The 05's had an issue breaking the half shafts at the track, and the diff usually along with it. 06 and up had upgraded shafts. The Z51 has the cross drilled rotors and the tc button, but not selective ride control button. The Z51 also has tranny coolers(on the manual).

I can deal with the halfshaft issue I have to worry about it with the cobra. Part of the reason I'm considering a new car is I broke the rear diff cover and my warranty is being a pain in the ***.

The selective ride (magnetic) is a sweet option... if it had that instead of the Z51 I still wouldn't be too pissed...

I went and looked at the vette they wouldn't let me drive it however I did get the dealership to drive it. I really liked the car there were a few issues I didnt like he's got 245 on the front what looks like a 9inch rim which kind of bothered me the start button the paint has come off. But other than that if I had my car sold I would be in a vette. By the way it's lemans blue which = sex on wheels.
This is the car

Just a quick question does the hud always come on or can you just not see it from the passenger side, because I noticed it had the slot for where it projects out of?

only the driver can see the hud. That particular car I remember seeing whe I was looking into buying a vette LAST winter. I remember the wheels and stripes all too well (and was in dallas at the time). I never drove it, but it makes me wonder how long it's been sittting there, or if there's a reason why it's back on the market if it did sell. I'd ask the dealership a bit more about that particular car.

The blue is a really nice color. I briefly looked at a couple '05s with about 30-40K miles on them before I decided on my ZO6 (just bought it last week with 27K miles). Being the middle of winter you can get one for low low 30's. If it's not everything you wanted and it's been for sale for a long time I would consider other cars...$33K is a lot of money and you should get exactly what you want IMO.

The dealer didnt know alot about it because they mainly sold 4 cylinder cars. It actually belongs to their repo man. I really like the car and it is everything I was looking for. I've been researching the price and its not bad.

Get someone you know to run a VIN check, and spend a few bucks on a Carfax-not being a pessimist, but you can't trust a car salesman to tell you 'everything' about the car.
Didn't know it was LMB, that is one sweet ride!

definitely good looking, and at 33k, it's a good price provided that it hasn't been beat to ****. I say, if carfax checks out and it drives the way you like it to, pull the trigger!

If that Vette was a repo then I would be skeptical about getting it....Reason being, that person who owned it knew within the last 2/3 months of ownership that he/she would be losing the car and I'm sure did'nt bother to dump any money into maintenence and I'm sure dogged the hell out of it before the repo man picked it up....I know I would..

The 2008 LS3's are in, and I'm sure there are many private sellers that are going to dump their LS2's...I would go on the Corvette forums to their cars for sale section..ppl on there know what the car is worth, and more importantly know what ppl will pay...Not to mention, from a private seller you have a good chance of seeing the maintenence records...Carfax has it's plus and minuses....Many shops do not even report to Carfax......Good Luck with your purchase!!

It wasn't a repo, It was owned by a guy who did repos.

gotcha!!

Don't know what your finances are, but I'm sure you could find a new LS2 C6 on some dealer lots for invoice.......Say a 1LT pacaged Vette for $40K or a 2LT packaged one in the low 40's....Just a thought because if you were financing you always get a better rate than a used vehicle....So the cost disparity will be closer than you think...

Mine is for sale for the right price (~$45k obo). It's fully loaded with all options including the dual roof package. Sticker was just under $58K. Only has around 8500 miles on it. Not a daily driver.

I have my eye on a 2009 Cyber Grey Z06.
