Default Pulling Motor - Quick Question

99 FRC C5 M6 LS1

How do you disconnect the braided slave cylinder line that runs through a hole in the bell housing? The other end runs to a plastic piece near the firewall and it has a cotter pin lock, is that the disconnect point?

I think you're talking about the clutch slave cylinder line. For me I use 2 flat head screw drivers and you push on both sides equally and pull on it and it releases. Theres a tool or if you can locate something that you can put arond it and push in on the plastic retainer and then pull the line out you can do that aswell. Good luck. PLEASE take some pics for me and let me know any hints, ideas, ways to make it faster. I'm going to be doing the same sometime in the next few months.

Yeah its the slave cylinder and master cylinder. The master is up top and goes through the firewall. The easiest thing to do is go to Kragen, Autozone whatever and get these bushings. Obviously they are not made for this but they work extremely well. I used them and it took me like 5 seconds to disconnect the line. You slide it over the braided line and slide it down into the fitting and it will pop apart easily. Here is a link

The package I got says HELP on it (brand im assuming) and the part # is 74016, Lol believe me I struggled to get mine apart to do my clutch install, so I bought those and had it apart in seconds. Hope that helps.

I did mine with two screwdrivers. You push evenly (on both sides) on the green piece towards the rear of the car. There is a specialty tool just for removing this but I didnt want to wait a week for shipping so I just used the screw driver trick. It takes a while but youll get it.

The disconect point is in the middle between header and firewall. it is a gold anodized (usually) cylinder about 1" dia X 2" long. You have to depress the white plastic sleeve to release it. It's a bitch.
Do not pull on it to hard or you will be replacing your master cyl also..

We found that a 14mm or 15mm open end wrench did the trick on the white plastic sleeve. My buddy tried that idea and it popped right off. It basically applied enough pressure to both sides to release it. Mechanical engineer he is.

Appreciate it fellas. I found one of my plastic disconnect tools that did the trick, sorry to say I lost a hour getting this done but still got it pulled last night which was good.
