Default comfort in c5

(this is a retarded question, I know)
I have a 99 c5 FRC, and I'm about 5'7" in height...
I have to move the driver's seat practically all the way to the front so that my left leg can reach to fully depress the clutch (and even still, just with my toes basically), and with the seat that far up, my knees hit up against the bottom of the dash. It's not the most comfort I've had.
Is this normal for people of my height, or am I just doing something obviously wrong?

I'm six foot and when i drove a vette i was fine, no problem. the shifter felt a little too far back but i got used to it. wait that was a c6. still i wouldnt think it should be that awkward at your hight.

I have a 00 FRC. Do you have the manual seat? I'm 6ft and I usually have the seat a couple notches in from the way back. My Vette has the manual seat btw

The driver's seat is electric. I would probably prefer it be manual, because I have to move the seat back when I want to exit the car (it's not easy to get out with the seat all the way to the front), and the manual seat would sure move a lot faster.

Yeah, 5'7 is a little short for the vettes. You can obviously drive them, but like you said, not entirely comfortably. You could always move the pedals up

You'd probably be more comfortable in a Crossfire SRT6. I wanted one till i found out you have to be under 6' to drive one.

I've driven quite a few vettes (autos and manuals). I'm about 5'9 and I didn't really have any problems. If you have shorter legs, you could have a problem though with a vette.

Get another clutch pedal & take it to a fab shop & have them cut it & extend it some....or maybe bolt some sort of metal block onto the pedal to allow you to sit a little further back.

I am 5' 10" and I too had to scoot the seat up a fair way to reach the pedals in my friend's C5. It was an automatic though, so I didn't have a clutch pedal to push all the way to the floor. I believe it would be quite a stretch.

You could try aftermarket racing pedals, the stuff ricers usually list in their mods. There are some really nice looking sets available too. They'll raise your pedals by about 3/4" - 1"

I'm 5'10" test drove a few vettes and found it quite similar to my camaro as far as seat to pedal distance. didn't have to bring it to the front, but still far enough that I can get in and out. Though the ones I've tested are C6 cars, so I can't vouch for whether they improved anything vs the C5.

Shoes make a big difference. In running shoes I have to actually have to move the seat back an inch vs my normal casual shoes.

Try adjusting your seat back as well. The ideal seat position is 135 degrees. This will extend your legs forward a bit while keeping your torso back enough. You want to be able to fully depress the clutch while maintaining a comfortable bend in your knee. Fully extended will lead to knee problems.

5'7" is pushing it for the vette. They were def designed for a taller person.

I agree with the OP that the C5 seems to require that you sit a little too much forward to engage the clutch all the way. I have a Z28 as well and I find the clutch pedal position to be perfectly located. It's not a big deal for me being 6'0 but I can image someone with short legs having difficulty.

pita, but if its really bothering you get a metal shop to extend the pedal towards you.

Thanks for the comments. I'm glad that it sounds like it's not just me. Maybe I'll look into aftermarket pedals.
(and no, before someone mentions it, I won't consider those extenders that 'little' people use. I'm not that short.)
