I'm running a 5 pt harness and stock Z06 seats. I've never been hassled by tech for it. Have I been getting away with something?

You should have stock sport seats. Your gonna be attaching to the rear seat anchors on the floor... Your gonna need to order one of these for the crotch strap... http://www.wolferacecraft.com/detail.aspx?ID=206

Your seat frames are fine, but you'll need Sport Seat foam and covers. Mid America offers a conversion service, but I don't know anything about it.

No, Z06 cars were equipped with standard seats, not sports. Yes, you will need a place to anchor your anti-submarine belt.

Why do you need different seats to be legal? My shoulder straps and side straps attach to the roll bar behind my seat. What am I missing?

I thought that the belt had to come through the back of the seat?

I've been checked by techs at 3 different tracks and that's never been said. I found this on NHRA's website from a 2008 rulebook, and it's not clear that stock seats are a problem. I'm curious if anyone was told otherwise.

I had to check around myself, and ran across some other posts about this. I guess the tech for drag events is different than tech at a HPDE road course event. From what I hear, you probably need the shoulder belts going thru the seats for HPDE. After taking a good look at the rules, I need to revise my side strap mounts. I'm suprised nobody's said anything yet.

The 5pt. with it not coming through the seat is just asking for submarining problems.

How big are you? If your a normal or small build, I'd suggest getting a FIA legal seat; solves any problem with technicality there might be, and also holds you much better. Granted, typically not the most comfortable option.

Yeah I need to redo that sub strap and move the cross bar to the rear seat bolts.

Sparco Evo L here, for drag racing it might not be a big deal but for road racing it is, most driving events do not allow sport seats with a harness thru them anymore.
