Default FRC, Coupe, Vert... ride/drive/feel bla bla bla

I was wondering how the ride in a FRC is compared to that of a Vert or Coupe... in regards to stiffness, feel, rattles and chatters. Is it significantly better when taking solidity into consideration?

2 things are very different between a coupe with selective ride and run flats, compared to a Z06. The selective ride has a weird bucking sway to it going over bumps, that is reduced by the perf mode setting. The Z06 ride is more balanced and tighter feel. The tires are a huge advantage in the Z! For example, a fast run going thru on/off ramps, if you hit a bump in the road, the coupe will get out of shape because it doesn't properly absorb the shock. The Z is a smoother ride and absorbs the shocks without getting out of shape. Ditching the run flats would make a huge improvement. A Z51 suspension may be a better choice in a non Z06. I just got the select ride and can only share my experience with that one. In regards to rattles, I haven't had any in either one.

as in, gets unstable? like... kicks out and you could get squirrely? How can you tell if the FRC has z51 suspension? I just hate that annoying, go over rail road tracks or hit a bump and it feels like the cars gonna fall apart cuz it flexes and rattles n chatters.

Yes it kicks out, because the whole car shudders. For example, going over 60mph thru an on ramp, and you're pushing a fast line at the limit of traction. Then jerk the wheel! I'm not talking about hitting a big pothole either, just a seam in the road. That's one thing I never liked much...

I don't remember fearing tracks much in the Coupe, and certainly not in a Z06. It takes them very well. The car is SOLID and only gives a thump thump... I know what you mean in some cars, especially some Mustangs I've had, they could knock your fillings out going over bad train tracks.

I believe you can find the Z51 code listed on the sticker in the glove box. If there is not switch on the console then I would expect to find a Z51, but check the RPO codes.

Edit: here are the suspension codes:
F45 Chassis, Selective Real Time Damping
F55 Continuously Variable Electronic Real Time Damping Suspension by Delphi (Whew!)
FE1 Base Suspension
FE3 Suspension System, Sport (part of Z51)
FE4 Suspension System, Z06

No kidding. It's the only nitpick I can remember, but overall still alot of fun. I'm not sure what caused it the most, but if you go Z51 with non-runflats you will certainly be happy. Then there's always a Z06...

Yeah, the FRC will probably have the FE3 suspension at least. A Coupe or Vert with Z51 would be pretty nice too. An interesting thread here:

Which is the same as Z51 for the FRC cars. Heck even your own link backs that...

I dunno, according to this site http://www.c5frc.com/

1999, 100% got Z51 and 100% got FE3
2000, 18% got Z51 and 98% got FE3

All the FRC came with the FE3 suspension which was the Z51 springs and the Z19 autocross sway bars. I was told but never confirmed in 2000 they shipped a few special FRC's for T1 racing.

So, if one has a base suspension coupe; then simply replacing the springs/swaybars and putting on larger/wider/better tires will go a long way in making it handle more like the ZO/Z51 suspension?
