Default o2 sensor question

Anybody have trouble running rear o2 sensors in the front position on LG pro headers? My car is a mid year production 03 Z. When I put the rear sensors in the front position the car idled very rich( eye burning rich). I also got some CEL codes pertaining to the front sensors. I had a eshaust leak on both sides and I know that could cause a rich condition but even after I stopped the leaks I was still running pig rich. Changed back to the stock front sensors and the car idles clean now. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this?

Are you talking about taking the rears out and putting them in the front postion with undoing them from the harness? Why would you want to do that? The front O2's (before cat) read different from the rear's (after cat). If I am not mistaken you can't unplug them and switch them because the connector's are diffrent. If you burned up your O2's because of the exhaust leak go buy some new one's and be done with it!!

The headers were sent with the square to flat adapters. This apparently is a pretty common thing to do recommended strongly by the header mfg. a very well known brand. Because you are moving the sensors further down stream in the exhaust system the front sensors don't get hot enough. The fronts are shielded whereas the back ones are not shielded as much and theoretically would get hotter sooner. Didn't seem to work on my car though. The idle is definately cleaner with the orginal sensors in the orginal places.

What is the reason for wanting to swap them out though? They should work fine where they are originally located. If the front's are burning up you have an exhaust or vacuum leak.

Just doing what the header guys said do. Was told the front sensors would be sluggish on start up. So I bought new rear sensors to put in the front position.
