Possibly picking up a 2007 1LT
Anyhow, I have a few questions.
Are there any quirks with these cars? I know there were some problems with the c5 window switches and what not. Just curious if there are any bugs with the c6's so far.
I am going to go a different direction with the Corvette. I am thinking of just a procharger and exhaust for this car and leave it at that.
Any cons to going with FI on these cars? It seems like a pretty popular mod for the corvette guys.
Lastly is there anything I need to know about the cars? Like should I go ahead and look for a 2 or 3 lt car instead of buying the 1lt?
Anyhow thanks for any info.

3LT is mainly toys, the biggies are: Heads-up display, heated seats, upgraded stereo with steering wheel controls. NAV is an option above the 3LT package.
These cars respond well to FI. Close to 500 rwhp with minimal other mods to 600 rwhp with supporting mods is obtained. A Maggie requires a raised hood; other S/C fit fine. Turbos are available.
1. Get the clear top if it already doesnt have one. Unless you absolutely LOVE the look of the painted top, it serves NO purpose and is heavier than the clear lexan top, and the clear top really opens up the cabin.
2. YOU MUST follow the clutch fluid cleaning procedure because you will have pedal problems if you dont cycle out the fluid from the filler under the hood and add in synthetic. If you plan on going to the strip, this is manditory if you plan on driving the car home after.
3. The auto pull down on the rear hatch lid dont always work and you may have to find the sweet spot on how to close it properly, or you can just slam it like most do.
4. The car will be perfect for the first 6 month, but then the brakes will start to squeal and this happens to all C6's with the Z51 cars getting it the worst.
5. GET A CLEAR BRA INSTALLED ASAP. I had my venture shields clear bra installed at the time of delivery and it has saved my car from bugs and rock chips like I could have never imagined. This was by far the best mod I ever did.
6. You may be pissed that you didnt get the nav radio, but be happy. The base radio is so much louder and cleaner than the nav radio plus you can swap it out for a pioneer AVIC D3 and it will look pimp and cheap to install because you wont have to bypass all the factory amps.
7. Keep an eye on how you get into the car because if you slide your butt down the leading edge of the drivers seat to get into the car you will wear off the finish of the leather and it will look like ****. Just back your *** into the seat and spin into position. Trust me this is the easiest way to enter the car and not kick something or ruin the VERY delicate drivers seat. Also the seat cushion will wear anyway no matter what you do or how nice you keep it.
8. STAY AWAY from factory repro wheels if you decide to upgrade. I have been through 3 sets of 08 C6 wheels and all three sets were not true round and could not be balanced. Im going to spend the real money and get some OEM wheels so I know they will be right.
9. Enjoy the car and dont like the garage have all the fun. You should not spend this kind of money on a car and leave it in the garage to save the miles.
10. After you wash it, just know that the minute you drive it around the block the rear will be completely covered with dust. I guess the rear aerodynamics direct all the dust to the rear around the tail lights and there is nothing you can do about it.
11. DONT, DONT, DONT and DONT lower the front end unless you enjoy the sound of your pretty C6 nose and air dam scrapping on EVERYTHING>>!! If I break hard, I can get the air dam under the car to scrape. But do lower the rear as low as it can go on the lowering bolts and then decide if you want to cut the lowering bolts to get it lower.
12. If you go FI, you will be FINE with the stock clutch. My car makes 550 at the wheels and has been on the stock clutch working perfect for over 4k miles with the blower.
Thats all I can think of right now, hope it helps.

If you find a car without it, you buy the top for around $1000 used.

There are only two options that mattered to me: the Z51 and the 6-speed. Everything else was just extra. I almost bought a new one for 43k (back in 05 when they were still the "NEW CORVETTE"), but instead bought a 7502 mile used one with every option in the book except the clear top for 43k. Most importantly, it had Z51 and a 6-speed.
71k miles later and I can't imagine being without this car.
It's a daily driver that has driven through the snow of New England, the sand of Florida, the sun of Texas, and the mountain air in NC. It's torn up the highways and twisties up and down the east coast. It's been in 16 different states. It's been on the track at Carolina Motorsports Park. Once it carried 400lbs of my personal stuff from GA to TX, driver not included. It's hard to imagine a part of my life that hasn't had the car somehow involved...
I drove it stock until the warranty ran out at 36k miles. After that, I lowered it on WCC bolts, all the way. As long as you're conscious about lowered cars, there's nothing bad about driving it around town. I then went to Corsa Sports and did some appearance mods. It wasn't until later that I finally started doing things like headers, a cam, some brake upgrades, etc. The car absolutely flies now.
In retrospect, considering my heavy usage of the car, I should have bought some backup floormats and a cargo bay mat. The stock carpet in the back has a few marks. A clear bra would have been a nice idea, but I'm not sure it would stop everything. At this point, I have plenty of paint chips, scratches, window chips, and minor body blemishes. It doesn't change the fact that the car is putting down 425rwhp, handles like a dream, and will lay rubber forever if I want it to... I just learn to live with the added "character" from the journey.
If you buy one, I recommend you drive it. Enjoy it. Yes, wax it, do what you have to for preservation and maintenance purposes, but do not make the mistake so many 'vette owners make. Don't save it for the next owner; instead, drive the wheels off your car. I never knew owning this thing would be such an awesome journey...
There have been some quirks - the extra electronics in the C6 can sometimes get goofy. My car likes to eat batteries, and when a battery dies in a C6, every computer system likes to mess up the other computer system. Everything is linked to a computer in this car - doors, seat position, ignition, active handling, etc. Sometimes it can be a pain dealing with these occasional gremlins, but it is a labor of love. The car also has its share of creaks and squeaks. Most proud C6 owners will tell you otherwise, but after some miles, they come. It's subtle; a few appeared around 30k miles, and then every 10k miles or so a few more joined the squeaking party. At this point its transparent to me. Some cars have had issues with the roof delaminating, but mine never had any issues aside from a few creaks. GM paint quality is abysmal; just looking at the car wrong creates swirls, so if you're **** don't get black (even though it's the best color).
My car also grenaded it's T56 transmission at 69k miles. This was due to a failing throwout bearing that gave poor clutch engagement/disengagement; the clutch doesn't give much feedback in this car, so I never really knew until one day everything went "kerchunk" and I could hear the metal vibrating around while driving. It has an RPM Stage 4 built T56 now, though.
No regrets, loving the ride.

One of the best parts about owning this car was when my dad "stole" the car from me for the day. He loved it so much that he went out and bought an 02 Z06 three weeks later:

Sorry for this long post with many pictures, but I just got carried away thinking about my 'vette purchase.
Good luck!
As for the Corvette purchase, I think about it all the time. Going to work, while I am working, and going to sleep

I really appreciate all of the help.
