Default Removing AIR pump?

Has anyone done this on there C5? I read somewhere that you have to remove one of the manifolds to get to one of the AIR system bolts, I was just wondering if this is true? How big of a job is it to remove the AIR pump and tubes? I have done it on f-bodies but not a Vette. So tell me your experiences. Thanks in advance.

The actual pump is located up front by the drivers side brake duct. A hose goes from the pump up to a splitter by the divers side header. From the splitter one hose attaches to the drivers side header and the second hose goes around the back side of the engine to attach to the passenger side header. Both hoses attach to the top side of the header.

If you do remove everything, you will need block off plates for the both headers and you will need to disable a couple of codes. I forget what the codes are, but as soon as you unplug the wires from the air pump and start the car cold, the codes will then thrown.

Thanks for the info. From what i read it doesnt seem that there is any need to remove the manifold then. Correct? I am not worried about the codes i will disable those with HPTuners. Thanks again for your help.

The tube is attached to the back of the drivers side head so it's a tight fit to remove it. I was actually able to work it off the bolt since it's an open ended slot that the bolt goes through. Feel around back there and you should find the bolt and bracket. Good luck

I think it's a 15mm. Top bolt on the driver's side head if you can get a wrench on it. Tight fit for sure. It'll take a while so be patient. I also cut the AIR pipe on the passenger side but ended up working it behind the manifold towards the passenger side since it seemed easier. Lot's of important wires back there so don't force it. You'll need to plug the line going into the AIR pump if you remove it plus disable it. G/L!

Actually it's a 13mm and can easily be reached by an anorexic, double jointed, pigmy midget. Other than that, just pull the hose off the driver's side and if you can't worry the bracket loose just cut and cap the passenger's side until some time when you actually need to take the intake manifold off.

As for the codes. i pulled my pump when i did my heads, cam, LS6 intake, and LT's and all the tubes came off and homemade Blockoffs and NOT ONE code yet and i've driven it about 300-400 miles since the install. Only codes i've gotten were for the deleted cats and rear o2's. It's VERY easy for the pump to come out though.~Cole~
