Default installing headers on 03 z06, have a ??

my dad and I are putting LG headers on his car and LG motorsports directions and the directions on ls1howto.com are pretty different. We have the headers on but according to LG you should put the cats on to the headers. When we do that they rub togeather. LS1howto.com shows them after the x-pipe. Does it really matter where the cats are?

I think the cats go up front if I am not mistaken. If they are rubbing you probably have some kind of alignment issue. Have you called the shop and asked Bobby or Anthony for some advice ?? I am sure they would be able to help. Good luck. BTW when you do get the clearance issue resolved and fire her up you will be happy. Great set of headers.

The cat should hook up directly to the header pipe. Than it should have the next pipe with the bung holes. It should be run this way if your running both sensors. They should not rub together something is not lined up correctly... Good Luck.

the headers get bolted to the head, and then to the bracket on the bell housing where the clutch is. how could we be off at all, were using the holes the car has and the holes on the headers!?

I'd leave everything installed with the bolts loose, then try to install the cats. Once you get everything in place, then tighten everything down. Bob

the only bolts that are tight are the ones that bolt them to the head

the cats go first for street driving. if you go with the off road pipes the x pipe gets put directly onto the headers. were almost done just have issues lining up the tips and trying to figure out a way to make the passenger side muffler move in towards the center of the car a bit. It's rubbing on the body....

it sounds awesome with the stock ti catback and the cats on it. It's pretty damn loud and sounds like a mix of indy car and a nascar!

That is awesome news bro. Glad to hear that you love the sound. You explained the way she sounds exactly the way I do. The only difference is that my car has billy boats bullet exhaust. No Mufflers and even louder then what you are experiencing.

Congrats on installing the headers yourself. Will you be going to dyno for tuning and new numbers ??

Everyone seems to love those Ti's !!!!

I'd like you to hear your car with some bullets on it though, or the LG Motorsports BIG 3 rear section. You could always keep your Ti's in the event you want to put them back on.
