What to do with C6?
73,600 miles
Every so often something comes up due to age and mileage... nothing serious, just small stuff.
I'll be deploying in a month or so and the car will be parked at my parents' house for a year. When I get back, I've been thinking about doing some stuff to my car. Here's what I've been thinking:
1. Rebuild/Restore my C6 - new motor (403?), built drivetrain, suspension, restore paint and wear
2. Trade for brand new 09 C6 LS3 - minor bolt-ons but nothing drastic to kill the warranty
3. Trade for used Z06 with an extended warranty - minor bolt-ons but nothing to kill the remaining warranty or extended warranty
4. Just keep C6 as is and drive it 'til it blows!
Right now I'm leaning towards 1 or 4 simply because I'm emotionally attached to the car. It's been with me through everything. The thought of a used Z06 is pretty tempting, though. It'd be nice to have those 20 or so ponies I'm still missing with a warranty to boot. If I went the built route, the car would go to the likes of LGM, LPE, or Kartek. But then getting it serviced would be harder and costlier; also, no warranty if something goes boom.
Also, how much life do you guys think this car has?
Current Mods:
G5X3 Cam, UD Pulley, LG LT Headers w/ Cats, Corsa Sports, Halltech Intake, dba rotors, SS brake lines, bushings, hurts shifter, rebuilt tranny, lowered, 425rwhp/396 rwtq

Stock genIII &VI go 300k miles plus before needing any internal rebuilds so I doubt the motr is gonna let go anytime soon....unless non-syn oil is used.
But a cam only really wakes them up. Just contact a good shop in your state & let them guide you.

If you still like your car a lot, keep it. Drive it for a while when you come back. It will probably seem fast and fun for a while. Then add a ported FAST. You'll have a fast car and get 1 - 2 years of enjoyment out of it before becoming bored with it and invest only a small amount of money.
I would not do #1 or #2.

...lol...jk... I vote #1
