Default In car cam swap question

My friend is wanting me to swap cams in his '98 vette and I was wondering if I can do it in the car without having to pull the condenser? Thanks in advance.

I left mine hooked up, just moved it around alittle. Just dont pressure it to go in any direction. To be honest with you, it wasnt even in the way of doing anything.

Easy to do it in car, remove hood and raidator and the a/c cond. will pull back out of the way to make room for them cam, don't waste your time with removing the motor.

Don't remove the condenser. I just finished a cam swap in a 2000 C5 and the condenser was still in the car. The radiator has to be removed along with the power steering pump, water pump, rack and pinion, crank pulley and so on.

pull condensor and radiator and you can stand in there while you do it. Don't pull the hood. In my Vid below there are some pics that you can see to help a little~Cole~

Condensor doesnt need to be pulled, but I would do it just to have more room to work with. Dont worry about the AC getting refilled. You can do that yourself by going to autozone and getting the kit. I've done that plenty of times. your car holds two pounds of freon, so do the math at the store. Hood also doesnt need to come off, but I did it on mine when I worked on mine. Hope this helps!

The condenser does not need to be removed, as stated previously it really does not even get in the way. Just pull the radiator and have fun with the steering rack

with the rack, disconnect the lines from the knuckle area and use a big pry bar to lift it up and move to the passangers side. it's really not that hard once you've done it once. If you do that, make DAMN sure you don't wreck the oil pickup tube seal. or you'll have to pull the rack AGAIN

Do not pull condensor.

No need. Hood CAN stay on or off, doesn't matter.

As the sponsor and kieth up top said...have fun with the rack, dudes.

Let the cussing commence.

Before dealing with the rack myself, I would have called you a pansy for that comment. "And while you are at it, how about you rearrange furniture in a room and then have a discussion about it looks." The gloves are a good idea. I bashed my knuckles several times doing the rack on mine.

Pull the radiator and steering rack out the passengers side wheel well. Not a real easy chore

I have removed the rack in 2 Vettes and did not find it difficult. Once power steering pump, cooler, steering shaft, PS lines are removed the rack just slides out the passenger side. Just take your time and have patience

^ I agree with you if you have a 97, 98, or 99, but not anything newer than that!
