Default Is it worth it

So I sit here with a dilema. Keep the Ls1 and the LT1 or sell both and save for a year to get a C5 Z06. I have been really contemplating selling the fbodies even though they were my first loves for muscle cars. Pros and cons
Pros: I would be 25 and driving a Z06. I would have a car with a storied history and one that can run alongside the much higher priced cars of the same year.
Cons: I live in Hawaii and them bitches ain't cheap out here. I would be without a car for close too if not more than a year to get a decent down payment. And then the big one: The submarine I am on is about to get back to going to sea ALOT. talking 9+ months out of the year, so the car would almost just sit and I would never get to enjoy it.

Those of you who made the switch what were the determining factors when you made the switch?

I would sell the two fbodies and get the ZO6 in a heartbeat. I had a 2000 SS before the vette and there is no comparison between the two. The C5 is way better in just about every way. If I had the chance to do it again, I would but only sooner

I went from an Incon Twin Turbo '02 Firehawk to a stock '01 Zo6.

I'd do it again too.

because it isn't worth getting a head/cam out here in hawaii. No one worth a damn for tuning and I don't have time to learn myself. Plus the money I would put into the suspension.

thanks for the replies guys.

I wanted something that felt like a true sports car; smaller, lighter and more nimble. The vette also feels nicer from an interior comfort standpoint.

You see the engine in my sig???

That's the one that was in the Firehawk.. on top of being twin turbo'd... a work of art -and I was proud to have built it myself...

With that being said.... it was a big car.. with a big feel (weight)

Yeah it rocked and I had some friends because of it, but in the end... with my Corvette I've gotten MUCH more compliments on it's looks and from the general public," man... is that an '08? Wow, it looks GREAT! man.... I wish I could get that car... WoW." he said all that in front of my girlfriend.

That coming from a guy just one week ago who was driving a (I guess '01- 05) BMW 328.... after all that display his last words... , "man..."

I just have more fun... MUCH better chassis and much better looks in my opinion. Enthusiasts love the Firehawk, but most people have no clue.

I haven't owned and F-car, but I have been around them a LOT. I still want one for sure, but the Corvette is a lot better all-around performer and turns more heads. I started there, but at some point I will buy a Camaro, too.

Yeah I have read alot about your hawk. It was nice as hell. I know what you mean by the feel to these cars, thouhg I have never ridden in a vette. The wow factor is by far superior. The big thing for me is handling these days. These here in Hawaii are ****. The TA doesn't like the bumps very much.

Sow would anyone say it would be worth going without a car for possibly up to a year to get the Z?

I have an 02 Z06 and love it. Lots of power when you want it and yet not bad on gas.

Aren't you going to be at sea for a large chunk of that time? If so, who cares what you own when you're swimming in a steel shark 200 meters underwater? Sounds like a good time to save up and get what you want.

Sold my Ram Air Formula for the FRC I have now. I am so impressed with the power to weight ratio of the Vettes. The Formula is missed because it was my track car and I had a large amount of performance parts in it, she was really fast! In the end, the FRC is a real great driver, but I am looking to buy another F-Body. This time around, in a vert. But I plan on keeping the Corvette...

Your pretty young. I'm 27, if you can afford it go for it. I've finally netted a solid career and will be picking up a C5Z or possibly C6Z in the next few months.

Yeah, but that isn't going to start until mid-december at the earliest. more than likely going to be next year.

I wouldn't be able to go a full year without some sort of LSx powered vehicle even if the light at the end of that tunnel was a Z06.
But on the other hand if you're going to be out to sea for most of that time anyway then you wouldn't be driving any car anyway so right now might be the time to make the move.
I love my LS1 Z28 and wouldn't give it up for too many other cars out there but Corvettes do rule so that's a tough call.
I was fortunate enough to still be able to keep my Z28 when I got my C6 otherwise I wouldn't have been able to make that decision/choice LOL.
