Not sure if this is a stupid or obvious Q but.
All I'm saying is that you don't see a Z06 driving down the street every day of the week and most car enthusiast understand they are more rare and a complete track machine out of the box...is that a better word for you..."rare"
I don't think calling a Z06 exclusive is being condescending to the base coupe or 'vert owners. It's just a superior car in every aspect unless you really want that top to come off. You were right about one thing though and that is different strokes for different folks. I had t-tops on a T/A before this and rarely took them off so the fixed roof didn't matter to me combined with the fact that I wanted the fastest corvette ever built (up until '06 of course
).

Some of you guys with your "superior car" attitudes make me laugh.
Takes all kinds.

Like I said, the Z06 is a terrific ride. Faster than a "stock" coupe for sure. Better handling, too. A great choice for lots of people. That said, it ain't the holy grail. I looked at your exact Z06 ('02 EB...great color, by the way!). Roofline is significantly lower than the Coupes or Verts (especially if you have the transparent top). Wasn't enough headroom for me. Seats felt cheap and uncomfortable (they were not sport seats). And I just couldn't love the notch back look. The Vettes that captured my attention as a boy all featured the classic rear bubble window. Believe it or not, the Z06 just wasn't the right choice for me. The improvements in power and handling did not offset the other negatives (for me). Money was not a factor. Guess that's why they make multiple versions of the same car model, eh?
LS1tech is primarily a younger drivers site. Accordingly, your feelings on what is "better" are not surprising. I would not expect you to consider that what's right/best for you is not necessarily the same for everyone.
I read your personal Vette webpage. You seem quite impressed with the power of your Z06. One day, you'll figure out there is always someone who is willing to spend more time and/or money to make their car faster. There's a lowly Coupe in my garage that would certainly **** you off. One of my buds has a fixed roof coupe that would make your Z06 look like a moped. The point is; it doesn't matter much how fast it is out of the box. Very few performance website participants leave their cars stock. Heck, unless you go to the track, you can only run at WOT for a few seconds before encountering other traffic or serious legal issues

Gityup!
I'm confused too...I don't know where that came from
I didn't know the roofline was actually lower on the FRC/Z06...I thought it was just the cutoff look of the back that some people didn't like.
That's nice but nitrous isn't my thing. I'm not trying to sound like I'm bragging on that site but considering how much work I put into my LS1 T/A to get to 427RWHP, this Z06 feels just as fast with less power and it's stock. That's impressive to me. And no I'm not the typical young person on the board. I am almost 30 and have been a member for 5 years not to mention working on LS1/LT1 cars for the past 8 years with plenty of trips to the track so believe me I know there's always something faster out there.

Let's assume that he will row his own; otherwise the Z06 would not be option to start with. There are low mileage 2006 Z06's out there (4000 - 7000 miles) so they may not be to their first oil change.
Depending upon the purchase date, a 2006 could also have a full year of warranty left.
I'd love the TQ of the LS7, but I need a roof that comes off.
You don't know what kind of care or abuse with a three year old car. I would assume the mileage is way past the first oil change and possibly never been changed. Get the new LS3.

It is a choice that comes down to personal preference. What do you want? I chose the Z06 because I love the FRC look and wanted the added suspension, lighter weight, and I loved the raw feel of it over the coupe. I hardly ever took the tops out of any of my F cars so the targa was not a loss in my book. Though it may be in your book. You need to drive both cars and get to know them both. Then think about which you would rather drive everyday. Don't listen to a bunch of coupe owners and a few Z owners throw grenades back and fourth. Decide on your own.
Get the Z06 if you can afford it.
You have to mod an LS3 to run with a stock Z06. And if you've seen a stock LS7 dyno, it's really not as close as the LS3 guys make it out to be.
Properly driven, a Z06 will beat a bolt-on LS3 (as it should).
And of course, what happens when you add bolt-ons to the LS7? The gap widens.

Already figured that out a few pages back.
