Not sure if this is a stupid or obvious Q but.

What would be the better way to go.
2006 Z06 or new 2008 LS3 Coupe.
Keeping in mind the Z is $50, ish and the 08 new with max discount.
What would you do?

A new automatic C6 is a much nicer ride. Particularly in traffic. And can be made to go just as fast as a Z06 with not a lot of $.
You don't know what kind of care or abuse with a three year old car. I would assume the mileage is way past the first oil change and possibly never been changed. Get the new LS3.

I agree that an LS3 can be made as fast as a Z06 but what's it need to do it? I would think you need cai, LT's, cam, and tune which combined is going to cost you around $3K tops (doing the work yourself) so yes you can get Z06 performance for only a few grand more but now you're only around $5K less than what you would've spent buying that used Z06. I would pay a little extra to get the badass looks, handling, braking, and exclusivity of the Z06 which has even better performance potential at the end of the day with the LS7.
i was trying to type earlier that even IF you can get the HP performance from the C6 that's close to the C6 Z06 your still not gonna get the looks and handling of the Z06. My computer froze when i was typing it

But that being said, the C6 Z06 is a completely badass ride and I can easily see how someone would choose a used one over the also awesome new base car.

Ego check on lane one, please
Z06's are swell cars, but there's no need to condescend to the Coupe and Vert owners. Also, they are not kryptonite; anyone can find one. There are plenty of folks out there who would never consider a sports car with a fixed roof. Ask me how I know
Passed on the same year, same color Vette in Z06 due to roof and interior.
Diff'rent strokes for diff'rent folks, my man.

All I'm saying is that you don't see a Z06 driving down the street every day of the week and most car enthusiast understand they are more rare and a complete track machine out of the box...is that a better word for you..."rare"
I don't think calling a Z06 exclusive is being condescending to the base coupe or 'vert owners. It's just a superior car in every aspect unless you really want that top to come off. You were right about one thing though and that is different strokes for different folks. I had t-tops on a T/A before this and rarely took them off so the fixed roof didn't matter to me combined with the fact that I wanted the fastest corvette ever built (up until '06 of course
).

). I'm not a Vette owner but my goal is to own one.......soon. I plan to get an LS3 Coupe. Simpley because I will not be able to afford a Z06. But basically your question is 427ci vs 376ci. In this case, size does matter, lol. I'd go with the Z06 as long as it fits what you want and in the shape it should be in but you are a lucky man either way you go. I envy you!
