Default Corvette with 427 badge

As the title says I saw a new Corvette convertible with the old late sixtys early seventies "427" badge on the little cowl ridge part of his hood. Now this to me is false advertisement because its not the Z06. Which if you do the math, there is 61 cubes per litre and obviously the LS7 in the Z06s are a 427 cubic inch motor, while the base corvettes have a 6.2L which would be 378 cubic inches. Now I know the HP is close to that 430hp and 436tq but still thats just not right. No Hp next to the 427. I almost wonder if they dealership that sold it to him told him it was a 427 and he is just unaware. I highly doubt that this guys knows his head from his *** and I also know its not a LS7 swapped.
I want to ask this guy some questions about it if I see him again and enlighten him and he would be like

Still to me this is just wrong!!!

Thoughts?

Except that it is 428 cubic inches in the Z06 and Chevy just picked the 427 number to tie into the heritage of the big blocks of the late 60's (like they did with the later 402 cube "396" engines). Ford did the same thing with their 4.9 liter Mustangs, slapping that 5.0 badge on about a billion of them pesky things. Mercedes modern 6.2L engines with the 6.3 badge on them, etc. Since factory cars aren't necessarily real accurate with their badging, who's to quibble with a guy who wants to slap a 427 badge on his 'vette? It is a bigger stretch/difference than my examples, but the principle is the same. No different really than slapping a Z06 badge on a lesser car, of which I have seen more than a few of. His car, his choice. Why would anyone else care?

I can see your point. I was going off the formula that the LS7 was the 427 and I wasnt aware that it was actually a 428. Learn something new everyday. I know its his car but to people that dont know much about them to begin with, then think the every corvette has a 427 in it. Just my thinkin.

But then again I guess it still doesnt make a difference as I have been asked a bazillion times if my car was a WS6 despite the badge and was seems to me obvious reasons.

My thoughts about is LS3=376ci. It is VERY likely the salesman did tell him it was a 427 just to sell it but more likely the salesman himself didn't know or assumed. I've bought, sold and traded a lot of cars and it amazes me how much more about the cars I know than salesmen, and just how clueless they can be about cars.

Could be an aftermarket engine, such as a stroker... Just waiting to have someone try and correct on us on the single little 454 badge that will add symmetry to the SS badge on our Camaro...

Some guys just buy a car and send it straight to a tuner to have a motor swap or whatever performance mods they want put on...you never know he might have had that done (motor swap).

It's just a badge, many cars put badges that are not true. The owner probably liked the way it looked and stuck it on. If you want to remove it now it can easily be done.
