Why don't you just call your insurance company and ask them?

FWIW, I was paying approximately $200 / month full covereage when I was 24 in my first vette..... not the best driving record and driving a vette will more than likely add more tickets to your record....LOL!

Thats only if you drive like an immature *******.
Im a Firefighter and Ive pulled many mangled bodies out of sports and muscle cars, seeing that puts me in no hurry to meet the same fate.
My vette is strictly for taking the ladies out on the town.
If I wanna go fast Ill break out the 455 Trans Am.

Im 21 and pay I think around $80 a month for full coverage through state farm as a secondary car, that is with a accident on my record (from when I was 16). And I have my own policy. Its not as bad as people think.

I don't understand how people get outrageous quotes on insurance premiums. I have both my '02 Z06 and '97 GTS on the same policy and it's 184/month full coverage. I'm 24 and had a DUI 4+ years ago.

You can ask all the people in the world, you're not going to get a quote for yourself. Go to the insurance company's and get a real quote, it's free.

Every factor comes into play, driving record, marriage, credit score, where you live, etc..

AGe 22, I was driving a Volvo XC90 04'. $1000 for 6 months with Geico. Bought 03 Z06 with 14k miles. Added it to my policy, $280 per 6 month period. I paid $1280 for both cars....thats a deal..

Heres the trick. I told Geico that the Vette was a Collecter's item with a 2k miles a year. I told them I just wanted to keep it as a toy....boom only 280 bucks for 6 months.....

Are you seriously paying $850/month for insurance Why would a T-rex cost $550/month? I've had brand new liter-class sportbikes before that cost MUCH less than that per month. Isn't the T-rex just a ZX-12R with 3 wheels basically? When I first was shopping for bike insurance I found that some companies were RIDICULOUSLY priced but then Geico was a ton cheaper.

I bought my 02 Z06 when I was 21, and full coverage insurance w/ $500 deductible was only $48/month. When I turned 22 it dropped and now I only pay $43/month full coverage the Vette.

My 93 Silverado is just liability and I pay $58/month for that. This is with a perfect record.

Your credit score plays a huge role in insurance rates. I don't know why, but they do. People always laugh and call me stupid for paying such "high insurance rates" until I tell them how much I actually pay. Then their jaw just drops. I don't know how it's so cheap, either, but I'm not complaining!

yup. out of the 25 companies I tried, one company took the trex under insurance. it is listed as a "Extreme high risk vehicle" Gieco, statefarm, allstate, progressive, even hagerty ect ect ect wouldnt even touch it.

I'm 24 and I pay about $190/mo for my z06 w/ a perfect record here in Texas. It will probably drop to half that in a year. I daily drive mine and put about 12k miles on it a year.

It has a lot to do with your credit, how many miles to and from you drive it and where you park it. Mine parks on the street so that factors into it.

I haven't driven a C6 so I couldn't tell you which is better. This is my second C5 that I've owned though, and I would highly recommend the C5Z to anyone. Got mind for about mid 20's with 32k miles on it. Will probably trade it in for a C6Z in a year or two.

cheers,
'littles

I drive the vette like it was meant to be driven.....not like most senior citizens in the slow lane. If that makes me immature..... so be it.

I bought my vette when I was 24yrs old. It cost me $150/month for full coverage at the time with a speeding ticket on my record. I am now 25 and my rate has dropped to $125 per month. I expect it to drop even more by my next renewal date because I hadn't turned 25 yet when I renewed a few months back.

Driving fast and driving stupid are two very different things (at least in my mind - my wife thinks driving fast is driving stupid). I doubt he was referring to exceeding the speed limit. Hell, I don't think I've ever gotten behind the wheel without hitting 100+ at least once. That's what these cars were designed to do. But weaving in and out of traffic recklessly or tailgating or racing on the highways in traffic is driving immature and putting other lives at risk. Take that to the track where it belongs.

Oh, and yes I have a good radar detector. No tickets in either of the Vettes (knock on wood). The Trans Am was a different story, but I think I was still an immature ******* when I owned that.

I wish I had gotten some of the quotes ya'll are/were getting at this age, I'd be driving around a yellow FRC right now, but oh well.....I'll have a vette in 2 years and my goat will be living the garage queen life.

Shop around go with what you can afford. I'm glad your humble about stepping up to the Vette. If you go with USAA you'll be shocked how low of rates you can get. If your not military set up a savings account with them to bypass the prereq.

^^X2 on USAA! The insurance was my final determining factor when I bought my vette at age 25. State Farm wanted around $150 a month. Slowly I saw my dream of owning A Vette go down. Then I called USAA and they gave me a full coverage quote with a $500 deductable for $75 a month. And at the time I was paying $90 a month for a 98' Nissan Maxima with State Farm! ****, I quickly changed all my insurances to USAA! Thats service that cant be beaten by anybody!!!

Im at $97/month, full coverage with $500 deducable, 25 years old on a 2000 C5 coupe. Whats really funny is the Vette is cheaper than my 04 Mazda RX-8 and 2001 Audi A4 were. I do have a clean driving record and befor I bought my vette I also looked at the STI and Evo because I could drive those all year round and All State quoted me almost $400 a month! I got a 2dr sports car with more HP than I could get an AWD sedan!
