Default First time out with the T/A (questions follow)

Well, went to mokan this weekend. The friday night test and tune had been rained out, so I raced sportsman at their labor day race. I got at least 3 passes this way ( 2 time trials and 1st round). 1st pass was a dissapointing 13.97 at 103.85. Explained by my 2.3 60 and bounced the rev limiter in 2nd.

Next was a better 13.78@ 104.82. Still had a slow 2.28 60.

3rd pass I was debating on trying to win the round or go for all out speed. (was paired with a car dialing 14.19). I had a slightly better 2.21 60, and by the 1000 ft I had caught him so I left it in 3rd and let it bounce off the limiter cause I thought it would kill just enough time to let me win the round. Turns out I still broke out (dialed a 13.8). Ran a 13.70@ 104.31 I had picked up at least a 10th up to the 1000 ft.

I will say, and I'm being honest not trying to make excuses, I launched easy (like normal every day driving) because I was 2 1/2 hrs from my truck (nor could I afford to fix a rearend at this moment). I still expected to run a little faster. What is a normal 60' and 1/4 for these cars.

Only mods are slp cat back (which I hate BTW), and K/N intake/filter.
01 T/A WS6 6 speed.

On street tires, stock suspension? 2.0's-2.20's seems to be teh norm @ here.
Yeah, you have a few that are dipping in to teh 1.90's on street tires, but probaly not with stock suspension.
I just took a customers car out last Friday, and I was driving, and he has a UMI setup (T/A, control arms, Panhard) and pretty much a stock motor car (bolt on), and after a few passes of getting used to the car, I got it down from a 2.3 down to a 2.0 (still bogging) and I know I could have gotten a 1.90 out of it rather easily on street tires, but it got late, and we loaded up and went home. Car went 12.90 @ 111

so, I guess that makes my new question. why am I so slow?

I would think I have an issue with MAF because there was recharge oil dripping out of the k and n when I bought it.

2nd, the pansy launch?

3rd. Traction Control on? How much time does it kill?

if oil was dripping off you K&N, most likely you got a dirty MAF.

The launch... wish I could help you there.. I recently went to the track for the first time. Did two runs, i wont even mention the first run since it was so terrible. The second run, I did 13.6 @ 103mph. Street tires @ 22PSI, lid and a bullet at the I pipe are my mods. I think I launched @ 1250-1500RPM, cant recall correctly. My 60ft was 2.184, so I guess its all about figuring out the best RPM you can launch from.

I think you will have to practice a lot on your launch. Getting that short time down, will help the ET out. Also where and how are you shifting? The quicker you are, the better your ET. Sometimes you can't be afraid to beat on it.
