Default 10's first time out with LS1 Notchback Mustang

Ran at Pinks All out this weekend at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, CA.

Car had never been driven, we finished it and rolled it out of the shop for the first time with a motor in it Friday @ 4:30am, got a few hours sleep, here is the first pass about 10am...

I had never driven the car above 10mph around the parking lot at 4:30 am and the car is completely brand new (all suspension/brakes/drivetrain/electrical/everything) so i was pretty worried about it driving straight...

We pulled the good motor out (great heads/cam setup etc, would have made another 60 rwhp) tuesday night that I was planning to go 9's n/a on because the machine shop put the wrong rings in the motor and it smoked like crazy (they put the right bore, but put metric 1.5mm,1.5mm,3mm rings when it was supposed to be 1/16, 1/16 , 3/16 rings).

So I took a stock LS1 off the shelf, threw a used extra cam and stock 5.3l heads on it on thursday and got the car running at 4am friday morning, 8 hours before they started racing at pinks @ noon friday.

I didnt know if it would shift to 2nd/3rd, drive straight or if the brakes would work. I threw a base tune in the car and had no time to put a wideband/dyno the car etc... I just hoped it was close enough to run ok...

Couldnt believe it, went 11.02 @ 124 n/a first pass. I left off of idle and just rolled in it easy...Went 10's every other pass after that, ill get those videos from my buddies filming shortly....

Details: Stock 80k mile LS1 shortblock, stock 5.3l heads, 233/239 camshaft, victor jr /w elbow and 90mm TB STOCK MAF and Fbody K&N FIPK air intake <--which i think were horrible but got the car running and out to the race because we ran out of time to get the car done, 28" tire, 3400 stall, 3.73 gear

Doesn't your car weigh in at like 2300lbs? That's definitely pretty impressive.

Track scale said 2720lb with me in this weekend. My scales in the shop before the car was finished assembled we were guessing to be about about 2300 lb plus me but track says about 200lbs more and i guess the little things to finish assembling the car may have added up to more than I realized.

So it was 2720 race weight this weekend.
