From: Gainesville, Florida # of drag strips runs: ?!?!?
The new Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords took a bone stock 2011 GT/CS to the track and ran 12.69 at 112 mph with a killer driver in 1,500 DA on stock rubber. Swapped on 17 inch M/T drag radials, 12.34. The 10s don't seem too far fetched, and granted running 10s isn't earth shattering (sad) but with the # of mods and no computer hacking it's impressive. And this engine is fresh, and you remember how fast people got the LS1 when it first came out in 1997?

This is quoted from dragzine:
I called Fred at Evolution Performance to get the low down on their new record from two days ago. He mentioned that some of the upgrades included a lightened interior, slicks instead of radials, and a Eaton TrueTrac differential. The main reason for the new differential was because the stock unit died after their 10.80 passes. The 1.40 60 foots can be mainly accredited to the drop in overall ET, though they did up the jet size to net a 125 shot over the previous 100 shot. They also compression check the motor after each run and so far the 5-liters rings are still holding, despite all the nitrous abuse.
One piece that is surprisingly stock is the clutch. Fred remarked that their were some hot spots and you can smell it a little after a hard nitrous run, but it is still living in comfortably in between the 5-liter and newly equipped 6-speed transmission. Fred feels that with a few more passes that the Evolution team can get the Mustang into the 10.30s. Keep an eye out for the possibility of one more test session this week as they gear up for the NMCA Maple Grove race next weekend. Nothing like seeing a bolt-on showroom fresh Mustang hanging both front tires a foot in the air…

Didn't they say that they'd fried it after like 10-15 passes?
Either way that car is crazy impressive though.

A 100 h.p. shot dropped my son's TBSS from a 12.44@108 (N/A), to an 11.37@117 (100 shot). It has a run weight of 4600 lbs., M/T drag radials and a much softer leave than this Mustang. Dropping from high 11.60 to 10.80 or even a 10.58 isn't too much of a stretch for a 3500 lb. car with a 5000+ rpm leave. All the new cars respond real well to computer tweeks too. I'm sure modded Camaros will run likewise monster numbers with a little work and a small shot of juice. Also to be taken into consideration is this was done in reasonably good air (765') at Atco, N.J. on May 24, 2010 and the barometer was 30.25.

It's about time Ford gets into the game. I'm impressed, this is only a 5.0. I wonder what it would run if Ford made a 6.2? Now I wonder how long before GM responds. They need to step it up again. It will definitely be a driver's race on the street with a Camaro vs Mustang now. Maybe now they will toss in a budget LS7 in the Camaro, the cubes would certainly help. One can only dream.

This thread is rediculous.
I went 10.58 with my brand new 35th with headers, lid, clutch, and drag radials. **** that was 2002. That was full weighted. Mustangs have never really been fast at that level. I see lots of fast mustangs but stock for stock there is really no comparison. LS over the 5.0 in every way.
