Leave the converter, get that 28 inch tire on it and just see what that gets you.

There's other gear ratio's available for a Th400 other then the std 2.48 1st, you may want to think about that too. If you can get the 2.75 or whatever the higher one is.. it might be worth a shot. That along with the lightened internals while you have it apart and I bet there's your 60 foot back, and another good bit.

The guys I know with fast fast low power auto cars are all running tranny's with the lightweight internals, they don't take alot of power, but when a car's in the cam only power range and light, it holds up just fine.

Congrats on the times! through What rpm are you trapping? If it's really tight I would change the tires and restall the converter. Just curious what converter do you have in the car?

I agree. Im gonna try the 28s first. I was gonna get the first gear for the tranny, but i was in a hurry to get it done. lol. Ive got another TH400 im gonna have built that already has the lightweight internals in it. Gonna put the first gear set in this one and see what happens.

Im not sure on the rpm. Im gonna say around 6400 ish maybe??? Ill have to have dlove pull a log for me and look. Im running the 230mm Circle D 5C converter. Its flashing at 4400 right now. The 5C i had last year in my 4l60 would flash at 5k. The cars getting better in the 60ft now. I know 1.47-1.48s aren't the best but its better than 1.50s lol. When the weather breaks im gonna throw the 28s on and see what happens. All else fails turn the rev limiter up!!

So no transbrake huh? The converter flashing to 4400 is a little tight I would think.

Ya no trans brake. All that will come next year. Its a little tight but not enough where it really bugs me that much. Im sure im leaving some on the table with it, but id like to try a few other things first before i pull the tranny. Nice job.
Something you might want to consider chasing the cam only record....
TH400's are heavier and eat up more HP then a TH350.

I know that but I want a tranny that will last. Plus once all the lightweight internals are in look out!!

Light weight internals and a tranny that will last don't mix.

Regardless. You've done well so far. Best of luck...
