Once the tires break loose, the run is blow, save the car and just let off and drive normally. You risking damaging the transmission or taking life out of the engine.

Ultimately you need some line lock, I bet with your stock power level you need to gum up the tires a little and the 60 foot should CERTAINLY improve. Now I am not saying your going to cut a 1.9x but getting you more in a idealistic range is doable.

One thing to advise is that you really need to get down your technique in terms of shifting, and launch. Those have the most influence on your results.

Why does everyone even consider getting traction with a 6 speed and a big ol wheel with rubber band tires.

As machine said......try and get the tires hotter.

Normally I'd say get a better tire, but then your runnin the risk of snappin your toothpick rear end.

Was the track wet? lol...as others said, you aren't going to get much traction with those tires, especially if your track prep sucks.

better tires and practice..I just whent yesterday for a test and tune first time in about 8 years and before that no exp...My best was 11.90 at 116,and my sixt was a 1.96..

..My friend said "your car is an easily low 11 car"..He say I'll run it in the 8th if it hits 7.30's it good for it..

So he runs it and hits 7.20 in the 8th,but he has a ton more exp than me,but it just got me motivated to start hittin the track more..Kinda neat not having to worry about cops chasing you lol

I run thoes tires on 16s, but I found that you need to drop the psi down to get them to hook well, and the durnout will help. I have mine from 18-20 psi depending on how the track is that night. I am also running a a4, so I have a little better 60' because the auto will do that, but should be the same effects, and also work on the launch and shifting like others said.

don't mash so hard on the launch w/those tires. You can get a 2.0 w/them if you practice... with better tires you'll be able to get into the high 12's.

I saw you had almost exactly 5.00 seconds from the 1/8 to the 1/4 so you're humming along just fine. I would guess you're in the 310-330 rwhp range. So high 12's is possible.

Good luck

Man and I felt bad for running a 13.9 my first time, blowing the tires off, and letting off (unintentionally shifting into OD). What did you launch at? I am auto but couldn't hook if I stalled it any more than 2200 rpm, not without big fat radials anyway.

Good news is, at least when you get used to everything, the car will be running much better times! I am stuck in the 13s/14s until I get my motor back together lol, turns out running 8.5:1 compression makes for a dog of a motor.

Double post, but like others are saying, those 18" tires with the stiff sidewall are not helping at all, you need a good set of 15/16 inch wheels that you can throw a good sized meat on for the strip. Add some supporting mods and baby it out of the hole to be nice to the 10 bolt, and you'll be fine.

Traction is not only good tires. You need to upgrade you suspension too. You might be having some wheel hop too.

Wheel i did get a feel of the wheel hope for the first time in my life on the strip that night & around 130 -150 cars were racing that night so i could only run once ... im back on the track on the 20th with the same set up but did some weight reduction here & there .... i dont even have headers on yet but hey thats no exuse =p

i lanched randomly @ maybe 2rpm - 3rpm not sure but i did give it a hard launch using the drag strip will grip more theory .... will try to progressively improve my wheel spin by droping them tires - 18psi & hope fully i get a set of those small tires & rims up front

I kinda have to prove that my car has a minimum of 12.99 in a 1/4 mile to myself !!
A Challenge persay =)

thank you all for your input but i really do belive my torque arm rubber is causing my wheel hope .... will get to the loose trans mount tonight & see how it runs on the 20th

cheers mates

34 psi is your biggest mistake! Drop them no lower then 22 and I would go to 18-20 with your massive wheel spin. That will help.

The other big thing that will help if it won't hook decent at that then for your best times you need to slip the clutch till you can dump it and go. This isn't good on a clutch but a few times to the track will have no effect on the life of it so you weigh your options.

If you want it to dead hook cositantly you need tires and maybe some new parts holding the rearend where it needs to be. But as other have said this option means you need a new rearend.

Good luck next time to the track.

if you're on regular street tires, lowering the pressure to 18 will only result in cupping the tires. drag tires at 18 is a whole lot better. with the M6 trans, you can launch at higher rpm, but be afraid for your rearend if you do get good tires! I've busted 2 posi's myself. . . granted a 5000 rpm launch on ET Drags will do that to 10-bolts. . . on STOCK engine I managed a 12.16 1/4 at 113, so yeah, you've got a 12.99 in there somewhere

Racing ain't cheap AND if you're not breaking, you're not racing.

Drag radials or at least lower air pressure to 21 psi with those.
