First time out - 1998 Camaro Z28 A4 bone stock
Launching at 2k in first gear manually, then switching to drive when I leave the line. My best time of the night was...
R/T: .220
60': 2.096
ET: 9.157 @ 79.855
And a 9.194 @ 79.493 to compliment.
Full weight, no adjustments from the street to the track, etc. The car has 160k on the original LS1 and I weigh 270lbs. Any tips to get into the 8s?

Don't bother with the manual shifting. Just put it in D and let the car do the work. Leaving from idle and rolling into it quickly gives me the best 60s. Your car is running really well for a bone stock 98 though. You planning on doing any mods to her?

I plan on doing about what you have done, except I also wanna do a stall (3800) and nitrous (50-100 shot). Whatever it takes to run mid 7s or so.
So basically...
TSP long tubes
TSP off road Y
Flowmaster cat-back (not in it for max power)
3800 stall
A shift kit (possibly)
4.10 gears
50-100 shot
Bigger/better tires
Should definitely put me in the 7s lol. And of course a tune.

All excellent worth while mods! Don't forget to add an LS6 intake manifold to that list though. Its worth every penny. I almost went with 4.10s, but 1st gear is pretty stout so I stuck with 3.73s.
Nothing wrong with the flowmaster man, if anything it'll give you a little more low end TQ, just might not flow as well way up top. Its a trade off either way.
You should hit mid 7s without spraying pretty easy, if you do your part of course, lol. On the spray, that thing will be a beast.

I might do an LS6 intake, but if I can hit my goals with what I have planned I won't bother. Either way, if I do it'll be in combination with something else because I don't wanna spend that much money and chance not feeling it myself. I've heard some people barely notice it while others claim it feels like a whole new car.
I personally feel it's too slow as-is. I wanna run like 8.8s bone stock.

I would go ahead and tune it. Just tell the tuner you plan on doing an off-road Y later so he can go ahead and turn the rear O2s off. Any updates you may need later such as a gear/speedo calibration, etc, should be free with any reputable tuner.
What part of North Cackilacky are you from? I only paid $250 for my tune (off dyno) and ran 12.54 at 110 with just the tune, lid, and cat-back. I can PM you details if you don't already have someone you plan on working with,

Thats not a bad time, probably average from what ive seen. My neighbors pretty much stock 98 T/A A4 with 160k has run a best of 8.58 but that was with an slp lid, 3.73s and ET Streets which makes a big difference. Your MPH looked a little low, hows your tranny shifting? I think she usually trapped around 82-83mph.

Ya leave it in D or OD and leave from Idle to wot. That's how I get my best results. My car bone stock down to the paper filter with traction control off was an 9.01@80mph with a 2.1 60ft. Since then I have did LT's/ORY/Catback/Lid/K&N/Smooth Bellow/Free mods/Plugs/Wires. My PB is a 8.45@85.26 mph
