Default Intake/exhaust only '00 Z28

Disregard the signature, I have yet to install the headers/ORY/tune at this point, that will be done in 2 weeks. New Era Performance is having a dyno day next Saturday so I've been waiting for that so I can get some baseline numbers before the headers and then see what kind of gains I get after the install without having to pay 150 for 3 pulls, when the dyno day is 2 for $50.

First time at the track with this car, and first time ever driving any sort of manual car, so I think I did pretty damn well The quickest car I've ever driven at the track was my buddies auto Z28 with cam and bolt ons that ran low 12.3's with me driving..

Best run of the night was the 2nd to last one:
60' - 2.10
330' - 5.727
1/8 - 8.638
mph - 85.00
1000 - 11.111
1/4 - 13.197
mph - 108.31
DA was about 1174

The last run had a better 60', but I forgot to shift 1-2 for some reason and bounced off the limiter once I was so pissed after I found out that was my best 60'. Oh well, still solid times for street tires I guess. Tires are Cooper RS3S, and I had the rears dropped down to 22 pounds; launches were at 3k rpm. Not sure if I could manage a sub 2.0 60' on them at this point, maybe when I get the LCA relocators put on? I'll be going back after the headers to see how deep in the 12's I can get. If I can nail a 12.8x @ 110-112 I'll be happy

In-car video of the best run of the night (I forgot to turn the radio off ):

Last run of the night where I missed the 1-2:

Damn, that's impressive. Was that really only with a lid and not even a catback? What tires are you running? And do you remember what RPM you were launching at? I'm not going to be going back until after I get the LT's put on, but I'm excited to experiment a little more with launching technique and some different tire pressures, not to mention the couple dozen more ponies :-)

Thanks dude....My car has a SLP lid & Free mods(throttle body coolant bypass, gutted lower airbox, descreened MAF, and ported throttle body by ME) 193,xxx miles, 12yr old DRY ROTTED Goodyears that i had laying around that barely hold air, 4000 launch SLIDING THE **** outta the clutch...VERY hard on the clutch... I drive it like im launching a 600cc bike... stock from the intake manifold to the tail pipes... 1.95 60', 5.49 330', 8.37@85.26mph 660'...... 85.55mph on an 8.52 and an 8.61 pass... 1422' DA......
-its still got more too.... that was my only clean pass.. my 8.500, 8.48, and 8.43 i kissed the limiter on, and the 8.52 and 8.61 was starting to get a lil buzzed and quit trying because i just started spinning more...also due to dropping the tire pressure down to 21 from 26 psi...
.......also would like to note that my pinion nut was backing off and losing differential fluid and barely made it home... pinion gear was hitting the posi unit by the time i got home and then the left rear tire blew out the side wall a mile from home!

launch it at 3800, with 26 or so psi in tires, and ride the clutch out never letting the revs drop below 4 grand.... if the track will hold it, your car will HAUL ***!

Lmao damn, that's quite a story. I felt as if I could have launched a little higher, it seemed as if the motor bogged down just a bit off the start. Also, what track was this at and what was the date and time you ran? I'm interested to see what your DA was compared to mine.

Blown, that other car was a ZL1, not an SS! That run was an 11.9@114 for him if I remember correctly.

LOL! Yeah.. it was worth it though!.. Nobody believes me around here on the mods... my brother has had ten of these cars in the last 2 years.. actually sold NHRA formula with full exhaust, 4.10, and 4600 precision stall, and tune, and it only went 8.24@83 on a 1.79 on 17" et streets last friday in 1480' DA.....sold it yesterday, and on his way to buy a stock auto TA right now..... NONE of his cars run like mine.... EXCEPT the 99 auto Z28 he sold a month ago.. Lid, muffler, Tune, went 8.44@85.1... BUT, it has a muffler and tune....

I bought my car as a VIRGIN! ive known the original owner since i was a child.. i did the mods...my Density Altitude was 1422'... that was september i believe in 2011..

Your car is running real good for what it has done. I have the same mods on my SS right now (SLP Lid, Magnaflow Catback) and could only manage a 13.6, lol.

BTW, car looks really understated and clean too man, love that look it has going on. How do you like the BMR/Blisten's, thinking about the same setup for mines real soon.

Thanks man, I really wish I could spring for an SS hood, that's the one thing I don't like about the car is the huge plain hood. Even the LT1 cars had those fake scoops on the hood to break it up a bit, and the LS1 hoods are just huge and blah. Otherwise, the Whistler mod and the "black crystal" corners really make the car. If you haven't done both to your car yet, I highly suggest it. It's really a completely different look, and I can't stop looking at it whenever the car is in sight lol.

I like the Bilstein/BMR combo a lot, it's such an improvement over both the ride and handling of the factory deCarbon/Eibach setup that was on the car when I bought it. Ride is a lot less harsh, and the handling is way more predictable now, with a good balance at the limit before oversteer kicks in, and with a lot less understeer. I'm sure the new tires help as well.

What did you get for 60' times on your runs?

Haha, I guess I'm the opposite, I think that Z28 looks mean with the sleek hood, adds to the clean/understated look you got. I just ordered new OEM headlights for mines a couple days ago and I kind of regret it after seeing your car, the whistler headlights look so good on NBM, love those corners too.

Those springs/shocks seem nice, in another week or two after I get my headers/tune out of the way I might have to jump on some. Also, my '60 wasn't that great, it was like a 2.2-2.3 or something like that. Forgot to mention I'm also an A4 so with a good driver in an M6, I'm probably a tad bit slower on average anyways at our power level.

The whistler mod is really easy to do, you just need a little patience. Of which I've never been known to have, and I still completed the job just fine lol. Only took about 2 hours to complete both lights if I remember correctly. And the OEM lights are perfect to do it to, since they're crystal clear and will look perfectly black. Mine are slightly yellowed, as I never got the chance to do a full polish on them over the winter like I wanted to.

Soooo, wanna trade hoods? ;-)
