We were able to get a new PB out of my buddy's Firechicken yesterday at the Track ****** 2015 rental at BMP in Florida yesterday. This is a legit 3650 lb raceweight 1999 Firebird Formula (w/ a TA hood). DA was not spectacular, in the high 1200's to low 1300's due to the heat.
We had been looking forward to this rental as BMP is well known in Florida as being a good hooking track. Fortunately, we poured it on in the first run off the trailer as the rest of the day was spent turning the car down to get it to hook. They only did one full prep at the beginning. The rest of the day they only spritzed the first 30'-40'. The guy in charge at the track was cool and I got the impression that he was doing the best with what he was allowed so it is what it is.
With the exception of the turbo kit itself and the cam grind, there is nothing custom under the hood ( LSX 425ish, TFS 245's, 90mm NW TB, Wilson Billet Cathedral intake, Jessel Solid Roller, Holley EFI (handles everything) with stock ignition). All off-the-shelf stuff. Peak boost was 35 psi. Turbos (PT7675's journal bearing/cast wheels) have more in them but in order to go quicker, we need to be able to bring the boost in faster which means we need an outstanding surface. Orlando Speedworld is quickly getting the reputation of being the place to go for small rental with outstanding prep.
